Man, I remember when those were the SHIZNIT about what... 2000? I was racing for a brewery at the time and we were sponsored my Marin... I had a pig of a bike they sent, with all that old XTR stuff. Worst handling bicycle ever, with brutally underdesigned rear suspension.

What are ya riding now? I'm on a Scott Scale 30.

One of my college riding buddies had a rigid Ibis, that was in the rigid days, I forget which one he had. I recently moved back in time, and I'm riding an ancient Lightspeed hardtail (on the rare occasion that I get a chance to ride).

Hey there - I forgot to subscribe to this thread, so I didn't even notice the replies.

I think this one is a 1999, but I don't know how to tell for sure. I remember about 2000 that my LBS had one hung high on the wall for some ridiculous price (like $4500). They were so far out of any other brands' price ranges that I didn't get it. Years later I saw this one for sale for something like $600, and the owner told me all about it. He loaded it with top stuff at the time and said he paid over 4G for it.

I was a very late convert to full suspensions, as I didn't believe they had matured enough. Stupid me, about two years ago I hopped on a Titus Racer-X and was quickly put into my place. I couldn't fault that bike in any way, so I became that guy who paid a stupid price for a bike.

I was always curious about those Lightspeeds or any other titanium bike, but those things are pricey, too.

I'm an old fatass who rides beginner trails, so most of my money on high-end bikes is wasted. Selling the Ibis is just part of my continuing plan to get rid of stuff I don't use. I really like it, but it really isn't in the same league with some of the modern stuff. The cool factor is very high, though. I think someone has stopped to talk to me about it on every ride I've gone on. Unfortunately, I tend to know less than they do about it.

I really need to start riding again - it's by far my favorite 'exercise' type of activity. I tend to get these thoughts right as Phoenix enters the three months of hell temperatures, though.

Cool! I started biking again about three years ago. Started with riding a cheap mountain bike on the streets of my town. Tried trail riding and loved it. Tried Downhill and loved it. Tried road bikes and loved them. tried cyclocross and loved that too. Now I have 11 bikes in my garage. Good thing I only have one car! LOL!!!
