JochenP Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Hello, I hope somebody could help me. I try to contact Hamer three times but get no response. I collect Hamer guitars and buy one unknown model. Unfortunately in Germany we have no Hamer sales. I look also at internet but could find nothing. The “beauty” looks like a Prototype but have no shaping on the back or front side. It shows only two single coils which looks original because under the pickguard there is only shape exactly for those. Serial number is 1 32xx I found exact same guitar on ebay. So I think its no custom order I would be lucky if you have any information for me. Enjoy my small collection: http://www.guitarmaniacs.de/html/users/joc...rre-hamer.shtml Regards from Germany
Jem Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Well it's obviously a Prototype of some description. I have seen another with just two single coils instead of the 'triple' coil but i must admit i can't remember if the body was contoured or not...it was quite a few years ago. Have you checked the serial number with the registry on the front page of the board (HFC rather than finger ) As you're probably aware (oh, welcome aboard) there's never really such a thing as a 'stock' Hamer especially around this production time. BCR Greg Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 It's a "Double Coil" made exclusively for a German distributor. Never offered in the USA.
cmatthes Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Yep - "Two Coil", made for German distribution in the very early 80s.
HamStd Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 The 2-coil is a GREAT model. As Greg said, made for the German Market, but some have made it over here. Has the prototype influence with a "twist". Some with and some without the bound maple top. I believe the look even sparked one of our own HFC'ers to recently custom order a 2005 take on the theme from ElDuave. Welcome to the club. Peter.
serial Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I believe that there were about two dozen of those imported into Germany in '81. There were a few that remained here, but probably only two or so.

Peter???..Are you the reason I can't seem to find any cool Hamers anymore??...ya Bastid.....hehe
hamersandstrats Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Did you get those guitars photographed at Sears?
HamStd Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Damn straight, I clipped a coupon out of the newspaper that gave me the Sear's special discount on a tire rotation, lube job and portrait sitting with the 2-8x10's, 1 5x7 and 12-wallet sizes. All for 49.99 and the bag of popcorn was thrown in for free.... Only the best for these boys!!!!Peter.
cmatthes Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Just wait until you see HIS "Glamour Shot".I keep it in a locket around my neck.
hamersandstrats Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Hey, that's definitely worth it with the tire rotation. Personally, I never pay for a lube job...P.S. I'll trade you a wallet size portrait of my niece and nephews for one of your Hamers.
