cmatthes Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 That is a cool one. Greg H. didn't specify in his description, but he mentioned that that one has a trans white (blonde) over ash, not the opaque finish. Tough to tell from the photos, but a really cool Daytona. Somebody's gonna be happy with that one - I came damned close to bidding away on that one, but tough to justify another one of those in the house!
bruce919 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 there have been many of his guitar for sale on e-bay in the last month or so.
prototype-fan Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Cool, but would have been cooler if the road case was included.
DaveL Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I'm sorry to see this but not exactly surprised, what with the layoff of Steven Tyler and such...
BTMN Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 From a previous "news release".... "Tying a scarf to a microphone stand is unfortunately no longer a marketable skill," IndustryWeek editor David Blanchard said [with regard to the firing of Aerosmith frontman Stephen Tyler]. "To compete in today's job market, you need to diversify your skill set. Someone who can not only sing, but also play tambourine and haul heavy equipment, is infinitely more valuable to a company."
Jorge Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Would have been nicer if the seller had bothered to answer questions (did for others) regarding the guitar. No wonder his Ebay reputation is less than stellar.Went for too much anyway.
cmatthes Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Would have been nicer if the seller had bothered to answer questions (did for others) regarding the guitar. No wonder his Ebay reputation is less than stellar. Went for too much anyway. His ebay rating is fine, and the guy is a 100% class act all the way around. There is ONE negative from a buyer of a $9.00 USED cell phone (that he mentioned was damaged), of all things. You're making quite a stretch there, Jorge. The seller is closely affiliated with Brad and a number of other players, is known by several members here on the board and is a straight shooter. As far as not responding to your question, I'm quite sure he's been bombarded by tire-kickers because he's been auctioning a famous player's gear for the last few months. Probably hard to keep up with all of that. For what it's worth, my questions and those of one other person I know who contacted him, were answered very promptly and courteously. As far as the price? C'mon, man. It actually sold for hundreds less than I'd have figured for a Daytona in like new condition with all the trinkets tossed in and the rock star provenance. About HALF of the T-51 he sold a few weeks ago. You sound a little bitter - lighten up!
JustKid Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Just an observation, every guitar this seller sold has the pic of the same certificate of auth. for Guild Nightbird.
cmatthes Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Just an observation, every guitar this seller sold has the pic of the same certificate of auth. for Guild Nightbird.Since he is selling dozens (or well over a hundred anyway) items, I don't think that would be a big deal He clearly points out that is a sample, plus he may not be assembling those certificate folios until after the auction, as he uses the auction photos on those and Brad probably hasn't signed them all up front. The seller is in Raleigh, NC, which is many hundreds of miles away from the Boston area where the stuff is likely warehoused and Brad signs the things.
BTMN Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Brad actually lives in that area now. It might be some of his personal guitars and not so much what he tours currently with. I keep forgetting these are going on. Hope I have not missed something really cool. That Daytona is nicely priced for what it is plus the Brad factor.
