JustKid Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 LETS HAVE SOME FUN !!! I'm bidding away on everithing! To hell with closing!
serial Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Robert Plant's guitar player had a Cali with that headstock-very cool.
Devnor Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 SS headstock looks wrong on that one...otherwise it's pretty cool. Ya'll have fun
holLoWskull Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Wow!!!!!!!!!!!! The Cali,s are coming out from under beds for sure. Red Quilt, Bound and Steve Stevens Neck.Sellers must see a golden opportunity to double or, if they bought right, triple their money with the recent Cali crazed frenzy going on. Heck, some of these recent prices are more than a lot of folks paid for these guitars brand new if they bought 'em during the 'shred is dead' era of 10-15 years ago (and the guitar had been hanging around the store for a few years).
Doink Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 GREAT ad on this one, too: So descriptive!Something looks fishy about that one. Dot inlays, import style translucent amber finish, and the big route for a Schaller floyd. My singer has a late 90's import Cali, and it too has a giant route around the trem area. Combine all of that with a seller that apparently knows very little about the guitar and uses horrible spelling and grammar.....If the price stays low enough, I just might gamble on it.

It's USA. The Schaller/Floyd route looks correct for a USA Cali, as does the anodized aluminum plates, straplocks, and just about everything else.
JustKid Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Look at the picture of the back of the headstock....6 digit stamped serial #. It's USA. The Schaller/Floyd route looks correct for a USA Cali, as does the anodized aluminum plates, straplocks, and just about everything else. Looks OK for USA, just missing top locks, and one more thing that doesn't look right to me - the edges, aren't they too round for cali? They almost look like strat kind of edges , and also it's been awhile since I saw the post screws ( studs) slotted. Those were the ones that would screw directly into the wood if I'm not mistaken, and I've never seen one like that on a cali. so someone probably had some fun with it. In any case I'd swap the floyd for OFR , this one doesn't seem right and might not work when you pull it up ( the edge looks to be too close). And seller sure does not give a thing about describing it. I wonder what his reserve is.
veatch Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I'm no expert, but be careful on this one. Get extra pics... From what is up there: Strap button is in the wrong place for an '88. Volume knob is wrong. (looks like a knob from an import) Recess for the trem is painted (should match the color of the guitar). Trem posts are wrong (should be allen wrench style). Serial number stamp looks funny, but i can't be sure on that. And the other things already mentioned. I'm 90% certain the body is off of an import. So, you get a US neck out of the deal.Edited for grammerage and stuff.
GusS Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 usa neck, usa (well german) bridge, usa case, import body? seems bizarreas for the description, dude is russian. bet he lives off ocean pkwy.
