cali is sold for $2.800

i think it is a fair price for this nice cond.

That might have been my former Cali; looks just like it. I bought it for $900 ~4 years ago and sold it for $1400. Then I think the guy who bought it from me flipped it like a week later for 2K on eBay. Good for the seller that somebody was willing to pay 2.8K for one, but I still think it's crazy! :D

hi austin,

it might look crazy to you, but this guitars costed back then the same as

2 les paul standards in germany - that was about 5.000 deutsch marks.

don't know the dollar currency then.

when i asked here if the prize for mine was ok, everyone said it's normal

to pay $2.250 - so i bought it and i'm very happy with it.

why is the mood for the value changing that much at HFC?

i wished i could shoot a guitar in that condition for $900.

i wouldn't hesitate.......

cheers

I wish I could have picked it up for $900.00, but I didn't. I paid the $2,800.00. Actually for flame or quilt maple guitars, it is right in the ball park. If it was in bad shape the price would go down from there. I paid about the same for and Ernie Ball quilt Petrucci. So I don't feel bad about the price. It will make a great companion for my trans green Cali. The wife says my other JP6 has to go. Bummer!

Absolutely beautiful guitar! and clean models are getting harder and harder to find. Good price? try and find another one under $3k in that condition.

that's one suprisingly versatile guitar there, and not many better lookin'

Klaus, I'm not sure if it's so much the mood is changing as your hearing the opinion of different HFC'ers now then you did before. Some people here may think that $2.8K is a bargain for a flame maple Cali Elite, and that's fine. Others such as myself may still remember the "old" days of the HFC and what we bought alot of those guitars for so we think that spending that much money on a used Cali sight unseen (when it probably was retailed for less than that brand new) is insane (at least for those of us in the USA where these guitars weren't quite as expensive on the used market as perhaps they were overseas). Bottom line is it's worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it. If the buyer is happy with his purchase and can afford it, I guess that's all that really matters.

2 expensive Hamer Cali's in less than a 3 weeks....you're doing good Simon074 but let's see if you can top our own LadyScary's record from last year. If you're reading the thread LadyScary, what was the total # of Cali's you picked up in that stretch of buying you had? That was a most impressive buying spree! :D

Thanks, but...... I'm done! Especialy if my wife finds out. Shhhhhhhh! Naw. She knows I got it, but not what I paid for it. Hehehehe. Now time to sell some gear!

Oh... Crap! And the Mesa Trem-O-Verb. Any one want my soon to be X-Wife? Real cheap!

Pics?

:D :D :(

And that nails it! Those guitars will be the "4-digit" equivalents of Hamer's second generation output, in my opinion. Prices are not likely to drop any time soon, despite the global economy. Flamed Calis will probably always go for a premium price.

As well they should!

(No, I don't have one for sale nor know anybody selling one :D )

The gear or the wife?

Too funny! :D I hope you stick around here for a while, we need more people with a good sense of humor like that. :( Enjoy your Californians and don't expect to be able to resist succumbing to the Hamer G.A.S. most all of us here suffer from time to time.

A most impressive feat in such a short span of time. Kudos on a nice collection.

Yes, Im sticking around. For being a small board, there is more life over here compared to Ernie Ball. LadyScary has been more than helpful since I came online here.

Frankly I don't understand the guitar collecting/hoarding ... I've got 3 nice electrics and a great bass, anymore and I start to feel guilty.

You are ... buying low / selling high to make money? Want to have more than anyone else to feel superior?

It's like Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno with their cars ... Do you need 350 cars? If you want 350 cars, why?

If I'm gonna buy a car I'm gonna drive it ... guitar I'm gonna play it. More than a few just gets in the way.

You just can't win. :D Folks lament that there's no re-sale value to Hamers. And folks lament that you can't get 'em cheap enough.

That's a gorgeous Cali you got. Congrats. I hope you enjoy it. And if you get GAS, remember, there's $350 right over here waitin' to claim her. :(
