Hamer on Pensacola Craigslist

Pensacola craiglist

I was looking around my old hometown's craigslist and found this. Don't know if anyone is interested but it looks in decent shape. I requested pictures and they sent them quickly. I posted one below. My nephew still lives in Milton but my wife would kill me if I bought another guitar right now.

I just can't come up with the money.

USA Hamer Guitar - $400 (Milton Fl)

This is a well built 24 fret maple neck with coil splitter and floyd rose. Tobacco burst finish on body. Does not include case. Guitar is in very good condition. I will e-mail pics to serious inquiries. Contact Troy @ argon092@att.net or 850-623-6306

Location: Milton Fl

it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests

It's a Centaura - looks like a good deal.

+1. Centauras had the offset dots on the fretboard and the "thick switch". In fact, that looks really close to the one I had. $400 is silly cheap for that. If you like super Strats and like the maple board, you'll love this thing.

I actually saw this on Craigslist on the 14th, and had put in an offer about an hour before this thread was posted.

It looks like my offer was accepted. He needed to check on shipping costs to my location, and just got back to me today. I just used PayPal to pay...if anyone else thinks they bought it (meaning I fell for a scam), please let me know!

Cool, I think it was one of your threads that started me looking there. I hope you like it.

Um, yeah, I should have that one (a quilt FM Special), too. But he is busy with some personal life stuff, so I haven't paid for it yet.

And everyone was right: My mess o' imports is slowly transmogrifying into a stable of USA thoroughbreds.

Yep! :D:D:D

If these two deals go through, then I went from:

JB Player Sledgehammer

Carvin Bolt

Hamer Stellar 1

Fernandes Revolver Pro

XT SATF

Westone project guitar

Slammer by Hamer Centaura

Hamer Slammer series Cali

to:

Black Peavey Vandenberg w/ Kahler trem

Red Peavey Vandenberg w/ Floyd Rose trem

1980 modified Hamer USA Special

1992 Hamer USA Centaura yellow/black marble

1993 Hamer USA Diablo trans red

1993 Hamer USA FM Special aztec gold quilt

1990 Hamer USA Centaura Tobacco Burst

(plus the Slammer series Cali, the XT SATF, and one additional Korean Cali Deluxe...for the boomers)

Now, the FM Special might cause me to sell the XT SATF. Having the Tobacco burst Centaura might get me to sell the marble Centaura. I don't think I'll get rid of the 80 Special, because it's got a fairly low serial #, and I might as well keep it.

I don't know when or if I will ever sell the Calis. They are imports and, well: "One of these things is not like the other!", but I doubt I'll ever get a USA Cali, because the price is just too steep on 'em. But if I stumble on another Craigslist special, then yeah: I'll get rid of 'em when I finally end up with a USA Cali.

But please note: I'm counting two chickens that haven't hatched yet. Sent the money for one...we'll see if I was naive, or if my trust (with safety net of PayPal) was justified.

I guess this is how I gamble! :D

He just sent me the guitar's tracking number.

Woot! I got a 1990 USA Centaura in good condition for $350 shipped!

Pictures after it arrives...probably Friday.

Congrats!! I picked up one just like that just a month ago from the MGR in my area. I love it. The neck is shredder thin, the maple fretboard and sunburst finish are classy looking, and the tone is definitely there. One of the best sounding shredders I've heard.

They don't get a lot of love in terms of resale, but those USA Centauras do kick ass.
