esquared Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Not affiliated but whats with all the basses coming up for sale lately???Along with the FB IV I posted yesterday here are three more on eBay:Chap BassB12L BassImpact BassOk the Chap in quilt makes me want to play bass but the Impact with boomers... wow.Put the Impact neck on the Chap and I would definitely be playing a bass!
cmatthes Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I have one of those quilt Chap basses that is a blast to play, but although I never liked the look of the Impacts, those are probably Hamer's best set neck bass design ever. Really great basses - wish I had snagged 2 or 3 when they were cheap!
serial Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Incredible basses. I've owned three-the two original prototypes and one other. Still have the first prototype.
burningyen Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Wow, seems like a great price for an Impact. Is that pau ferro on the Chap?

atquinn Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Wow, I thought I was having an out-body-experience! I was seriously going to post the exact same topic with the exact same topic name this morning before I went to work, but I ran out of time. I love the way the Impact looks, but the one I played at Ceebs this summer had very wide string spacing and a really shallow neck. Then again, it's been a really long time since I had a bass laying around so my hands might just be un-used to the spacing. -Austin
BPF Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Isnt the asking price a tad low on the Impact bass? Or is that about right nowadays?
burningyen Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Yeah, when I said "great price" I meant "lower than I would expect."
marcnorth Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I had 2 Impacts, Hamers best playing and most comfortable long scale bass for me. But I sold both so I could order another B4M. I think it's a little high priced myself.Edit to add, I guess it wasn't too high priced for someone. I was going to put in an offer but it's already gone.
Hamerica Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Well, based on the condition and no case, I thought it was a little high, but its gone now so congrats to the new owner. JohnnyB Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 The same vendor also has a Leo-era G&L Interceptor bass. These are about as rare and desirable as the Impact. You can see that they're from the same era. Those 16-pole soapbar humbuckers are KILLER.
