Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 No connection with the seller:Boomers!"Special" body shape.
HoboMan Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Interesting.Maybe could be used as an affordable backup guitar.
burningyen Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 That's a surprisingly nice inlay on the pink one.
BCR Greg Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Actually, the "Special" is a ripoff of a Gibson Les Paul Junior, but who's keeping score?
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 Actually, the "Special" is a ripoff of a Gibson Les Paul Junior, but who's keeping score?I considered that, but in my opinion, the horns on a Junior are closer to symmetrical than a Hamer Sunburst/Special. So this looked a little closer to a Special than to a LP Jr. IMHO.
cmatthes Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I don't think I'd pay that for a copy of a Hamer IMPORT.
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 I don't think I'd pay that for a copy of a Hamer IMPORT. But...but...but it is high quality! It even says so in the eBay entry!
mathman Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Just nitpickin but should it be knock-off or rip-off?
Feynman Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 How did you find these - like, what did you search on?
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 Just nitpickin but should it be knock-off or rip-off? Good point. I would say if you are looking at it, it is a knock-off. If you purchase it, it is a rip-off. Actually, they could turn out to be decent guitars. China seems to be trying to make a name for itself by making decent-quality factory-made guitars. Michael Kelly guitars look pretty good, for example. But I have no idea if they succeed or not...my Chinese made Hamer XT is pretty good, but these might be more flash than substance. Dunno.
