JohnnyB Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I bought this beauty (used) from Bass San Diego. It was totally in like-new condition. It's a real prize--one-piece ash body, semihollow, natural wood (masked) binding, fretless ebony board, and matching headstock. It was at a very fair price for such a decked out custom-order USA model as well.
Caddie Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Daves Guitar, Lacrosse, WI http://davesguitar.com/Bought a used Rickenbacker 381-12v69. The guy that answered the phone pulled the guitar down and gave it an in-hand inspection for me. It arrived even better than described and perfectly set up.Bought a used Hamer Newport Pro Custom from him a few years later. Same excellent buying experience. caddie
burningyen Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 +1 BCR, got both of my custom orders (Newport and Special Ultimate) and two dealer stock Hamers (Artist Korina P-90 and Indigo DuoTone) through Greg. It was fun each time.
HamerHokie Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 By online dealers, do you mean "regular dealers with a website" or "dealers that deal exclusively online."I was just thinking any dealer who has a website, preferably one showing stock. I hate web sites that just direct you to a manufacturers site...In that case, all of the dealers represented here are pretty great.
thecajunboy Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 +1 on Eddie and the guys over at Indoor Storm. They got me into guitar again after a long hiatus. G&L Legacy special order. Greg and the crew at BCR have been a joy to work with on my lone custom ordered Hamer. The sustain block Studio Custom. Grabbed a used Chap 5 stringer from them too. Willcutt's for the R7 Les Paul Goldtop. Easy and fun deal. The rest of my stuff came from folks here, pawn shops, or guitar shows.
Teh Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Another +1 for Dave's in LaCrosse. Bought a Les Paul from him several years back and the service was top shelf. Others that I've patronized online over the years:- Wildwood in L'ville CO (a couple nice Taylors. Steve is great...)- Elderly in Lansing MI (a couple nice Martins. Stan runs a tight ship)- Guitar Rodeo in Minneapolis (a couple more nice Taylors. Jim has the best prices on Taylors that I've found and one of the best selections too...)
BlaXander Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 +1 On Willcutt's. I bought my Studio Custom Redwood from them and got top notch service from them and they really helped plan my order so that my dad who was visiting the States could bring it back to Europe with him. I wire transferred money to them and they asked when they should ship it to his hotel, to make sure he'd be there. All in all, a very positive experience and highly recommended
Caddie Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Shame on me. I failed to mention that I have also bought from BCR and Rocketeria, but I didn't feel like I was buying from an "online dealer". I simply felt like I was buying something from one of my HFC Brothers.caddie
cynic Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Jason at Notable Guitars recently hooked me up with a fantastic deal on a Larrivee LV-03R. He's strictly online with no brick and mortar presence, is wonderful to deal with and never fails to impress. My wife is Canadian so I tend to get a bye on any BC made Larrivee that hits the doorstep. If your spouse isn't Canadian, all the newer x-05 series and up are made in USA. To echo what many have already said, Dave's (LP online) and Wild West (PRS, both online and in their store) have also been very good to me. Wild West is a great experience if you're in the area, and customers are often invited to private shows at their lounge adjacent to the store. If Gil Yaron Guitars counts as a "dealer", I've never experienced his ridiculously high and personalized level of service or communication, and his work is stunning.
