Jeff R Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 In an effort to dodge the Katrina news at my office, on TV, online here, etc., I left work early today and hit my favorite music store out here in the stix. Somehow this '90 Cali showed up a coupla days ago over there, in excellent-plus condition with OHSC and all case candy... It's safe now LOL. Better pix tomorrow. I'm teaching it how to enjoy cold Milla Lites tonight.
Jeff R Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 Oh yeah, stoopid cheap...* just rubbin' it in *
David B Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 I love that feeling when you walk into a music store & spot that unexpected Hamer. Especially at $350. That doesn't happen much anymore though.

gwayne Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 COOL! Love the color. I was wailing on the Centaura HB last night thinking, "Holy Shit, Jeff is going to miss having this". I guess not!
Hackubus Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 That's sharp. I kinda like the color too.

Jeff R Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 Follow up after a thorough cleaning and setup...This guitar apparently sat up under some guy's bed for a long time. The frets were greening out with corrosion but absolutely no wear anywhere, not even on the G string at the second fret. One small clearcoat ding on the face about the size of a match head keeps if from being as clean as they get, but the paint job hides the mark very well LOL. Hardware looks showroom new. No touched solder joints. The only thing changed were Schaller strap locks - looking at the condition of the frets and strings, I wonder if the strings were ever changed on it (they were tetanus gross).Acoustically, this guitar is way up on the list of bolt-ons I've played. It has "perfect" sustain (chords vibrate the wood under your left hand quite noticeably), and the notes not only ring strong but they get the harmonic decay at just the right time. I can't wait to play this thing through a cranked amp so I can use the guitar to play the amp, so to speak.I already has some ice tracks to add to my HFC CD song, and I have a feeling I'm going to redo a lot of stuff I recorded using this guitar. It's really cool. I didn't get it for the HFC-approved bottom-feeder price, but I got it for damn close. What a steal!Nicer pix tomorrow when I feel like shooting it instead of beating it up.** gwayne, glad to hear the Centaura's doing you well! It's a KILLER guitar **
Tres Aardvarks Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 dude, that is sweet, I don't think I've ever seen a Cali with that finish.
jettster Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 That is bad@ss, congrats! My Cali's get used plenty when recording.
