Hi, does anyone have a photo of the rear wiring cavity of a Hamer Standard (showing pots, wires and capacitor) from the 1976 production year? or know what type of wire the pickups had, what type was used on the toggle switch and between pots and output jack ,braided metal shield, cloth pushback, or plastic coated? was the cap a ceramic disk or some other type? thanks

Serial has one from that year.

I requested the info to expand my knowledge of Hamer guitars. As the Hamer Standard was a copy of the Gibson Explorer and shared many of it's features. I have seen several photos of wiring cavities of Explorers through the years from "58 to modern but have never seen an "early" 76-78 Hamer photo as they are much rarer. I am curious to know what wiring specs Hamer may have copied or changed to make their guitar sonically stand out from the crowd. I did not think this info would be classified "Top Secret". But I guess I was wrong. Sorry

Nothing's "Top Secret".

It's just that there are only a small handful of people here who have those guitars. Some may be easier to dig out to photograph and post than others. I mentioned Serial, because he has a '75 and a '77 Standard. He also has a demanding full-time career, a family and gigs in two bands that play out 3-5 times a month. He may be able to get around to photographing and posting a pic of a control cavity on one of his guitars for you, but you may need to be a bit more patient or contact him (or others) directly.

Not that I have a horse in this race (nor do I own or have I even ever played a 76-78 Hamer), but one of the (IMHO) great things Jol et.al. did in the Hamer control cavity was to use the 0.10 mF tone cap and 500k proprietary-taper pots. I've found Hamer's tone control to be extremely useful as compared to other brands and the added umph on the volume from 9 to 10 is really handy, as well.

Actually, I was hoping to see an early Standard, but you can be a dick all you want. It's free.

I have a '76 Standard. Probably one of about ten or so that were done that year (one in '74, maybe eight or nine in '75).

I just now saw this post for the first time-I was out of town when it was originally posted. I can try to take a pic and will post here.

Pics rule! I'm dying to see a 4-digit cavity close-up. ^_^
