Kurt L Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Sunburst is gone. Vector and SS are gonna make someone really happy... ‘79 Hamer Sunburst This guitar was clearly someone’s warhorse for many years and has the scars to prove it. Lots of finish checking as well. I’ve posted lots of pics so you can get a good look at it. (BTW - what appears to be a missing piece of wood in the neck is actually a weird reflection of some finish cracks.) The case is also beat to hell. Needed lots of love when I got it - had to replace 2 sustain block saddles (had been replaced with saddles of the wrong size), replace the nut and get a refret. Trust me, it really needed it so I had 6105s professionally installed. Has a set of Duncan JB and ‘59 humbuckers in it right now. That’s all the “full disclosure.” Now for the good news! After all that work, it plays well and sounds incredible. After all, it IS a ‘79 sunburst and the tone off the neck pickup is a real treat! But the neck is a little too thin for my tastes and the string spacing is narrower than I prefer. I realize I won’t get out of this guitar everything that I put into it - but I also think a vintage Hamer should go to someone who will love it and crank it up! $950 shipped to CONUS ‘81 Vector This all-mahogany masterpiece is in MUCH better shape, just a few dings here and there. Did not have the original pickups when I got it but I bought a pair of “period correct” Hamer/DiMarzios from Hamer collector extraordinaire, Peter Fung. I noticed a small crack along the neck joint (almost impossible to photograph), had my luthier inspect it and was assured it’s only a finish crack. No structural or tuning issues. Sounds really warm and full off the neck pickup, rocks just like you’d expect when cranked up. It’s fairly light (have played some Vs that were much heavier) and the neck has a medium-D shape. Very comfortable. Comes with original Hamer case. $850 shipped to CONUS ‘85 Steve Stevens Saved the best for last - this guitar kicks all kinds of ass! And it’s in great shape with no breaks, no repairs and frets in great shape. You’d hardly know it’s almost 27 years old. As far as I know it’s all original, though one person has questioned if the Floyd’s arm is original because it has a big tip. When I got it, the seller didn’t have a case. But it fits quite nicely in the case for a Studio/Artist/Special, so I’ll ship it with a Hamer case. As I wrote a few years ago… Did I mention it's pink? Seriously, seriously pink. The pictures don't even begin to reveal its overwhelming pinkness. Do yourself a favor. If you suck, don't buy this guitar. It'll expose you. It'll laugh in your face and make people talk behind your back. It'll have sex with your girlfriend when you're not around. It'll tell the world "I'm awesome. Too bad about this guy." But if you rock, why not get a guitar as badass as you are? $1150 shipped to CONUS.

devrock Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 That SS is HOT!!!!!!Thanks. It's pretty clean, too. Just being patient, I'm sure someone will want to adopt it...I'm having a hard time with it. If I had the available cash, it would be on its way to me right now... If only I were willing to part with something I had, but I'm not. I guess I'm becoming a guitar hoarder.
