Upgrading strat bridge blocks

Question

I have a partscaster (American strat body) that has been officially proclaimed to be a keeper, but it has a fairly thin block on it. How much can I expect the tone or sustain to improve by upgrading to a larger steel or brass block.

Only one real way to find out.....

I replaced my Fender AmSe block with a steel Callaham cause I broke of the vibrato bar and then dicked up the threads trying to drill it out. I like it. Better sustain to my ears.

The Callaham block really seemed to make a difference in the black Strat now owned by PunkAvenger.

Another great thing is how the Callaham trem arm attachment takes out nearly all the wobble. Seriously considering one for my green Strat for that reason [feel] alone.

Some people like the Callahams, but there are a some who don't and some who can't hear the difference.

I recently replaced the zinc block trem on my MIM Classic Series '60s Strat with a steel-block Allparts Wilkinson-by-Gotoh trem (Japanese, not the cheaper Chinese one). The Wilkinson sounds pretty darn similar to the Fender, just a tad more punch/less compression. The only real benefits for that particular swap for me were the push-in arm and the narrower string spacing to match the polepieces on the TV Jones pickups.
