TBFUS Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I have a Hamer Impact I bought in late 94..I've been playing it for almost 18 yrs...it listed for 3750.00 when I bought it...I have recently bought a Mike Lull bass that I am playing...it doesn't have the sound the Hamer has (hadn't found one that does) but it plays real nice and I needed a change, just for change...may or may not sell but for the right price I might... here is a video of me playing it recent, just to let you hear it no other reason...Was told there were only a select few made because of the price and no one really caring to much about a bass made by Hamer at that time...course the price scared everyone as well...but this is one awesome bass and I have bought and sold everything from a Spector to a Mayones trying to copy the sound...I've found basses that played as easy and the fretboard and body was as nice, but can't find one with the warmth and overall versatile tone of this Hamer...I have AB'd every bass I bought and the output and tone is always less than the Hamer... http://youtu.be/_0-6jsHT7_M bass solo around 8 minutes if you want to go straight to it, hearing it by itself... TBFUS Posted October 12, 2012 Author Posted October 12, 2012 4000.00 is where I'd start. I wished I could keep it but I need some other gear and I can't have 2 high end basses...this bass is going to be worth some money....there were only a select few made according to Hamer. Check around ..

TBFUS Posted October 12, 2012 Author Posted October 12, 2012 Specialk...where is the serial...I took off the little compartment where the trust rod is and there is number 6 ...?If there is somehwere else to look let me know..I checked the battery compartment (18 volts by the way) and I checked the Pickup's area as well...Only number I see is a 6....nothing on the back of the headstock or body anywhere..
cmatthes Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Those basses are pretty damned rare - actually maybe even a little more rare than that - and the only neck throughs Hamer built. Although they were featured in an early '90s catalog, they weren't a "production" item.That Hinson clip rocks, TBFUS!
TBFUS Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 yes they are... a friend of mine who ran a music store in SC called me when they came in in late 94 and told me I had to come check it out and I was like Hamer who, anyway, I went and got a semi-endorsement because they weren't selling them....the Bubinga wood-neck-thru and Old EMG BT system is undoubtably the best sounding bass tone I have ever played and I have been playing for a long time and still am...i am currently touring with Unknown Hinson and having a blast...I needed a black bass for Unknown's show so I got MIke Lull to build me a custom bass for the Hinson show.... I like the way it plays but I tell you, it don't sound like my Hamer...It fits the show and again it plays nice but....not sure I wanta move it just thought I'd get some feedback..may or may not according to the offer...I'd AB it against bass out there as we speak ....I know thats a hefty statement but ask any soundman who has gone thru the process with me, be it a Spector, Mayones,Fender Jazz, or currently this Mike Lull...They all played as good neck wise but never touched the sound...Thanks again for the feedback my friend (cmatthes)...

Usually the back of the headstock is where the s/n is found. I'm guessing you got the 6th one built. Could it be this model shipped without numbers? Anyway, thanks for checking, TBFUS. TBFUS Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 Thanks guys...I called Hamer a few yrs back and was asking what kind of system was in it because I was trying to make my Spector sound close to it and that's when they told me there were only a select few of these made..All EMG inside and out...I'm guessing it was the 6th one built...I may check with Hamer...money is tight for everyone around the world so I understand people not wanting to put 4k into a bass right now but I'll keep it before I let it go for nothing...I've played it to long...It has got some small scuffs on the back and and a small place on the front above the B string front pickup, but it only gives the bass some character and for as long as I've had it, I've had it set up, restringed, cleaned and it's never been left out in the cold or heat...it has stayed and played for me for close to 18 yrs....I have been taking the Mike Lull on tour because when I take both basses I always end up playing my Hamer, so the only way to give the Lull a shot is to not bring it...You guys know what I'm talking about....Thanks again...

Any way to get a pic of that number?A few HFC'ers have these basses around - I'd like to hear what the numbering and/or marking looks like on theirs. It's very unusual that there is no serial number. That #6 is not a serial number.

As mentioned earlier, Talkbass would also be a great forum to list her. Those guys know their basses. After everything you have said about her, she sounds like your musical soulmate. It may not be possible to find a second one of those.
