cmatthes Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Just got word earlier that Faye apparently took her own life earlier today. I chatted with her a few times over the last few months about her Hamers and her time in the 80s NC Rock Scene. Most recently, touched base with her about her blue Cruisebass that she had been trying to sell on eBay. Never had any idea that things were so bad in her mind.http://blogs.newsobserver.com/beat/faye-hunter-rest-in-peaceVery sad news.
sixesandsevens Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 That's terrible. I feel so bad for her and those she left behind. I've had some seemingly hopeless moments and they were awful. I can't even imagine how bad it must have to be to really end it.I wish there was a way to feel the love that's hiding out there without having to ask for it. To hear that supporters came pouring out of the woodwork right afterwards seems all too typical for suicides. If only there was a way to have access to that love "in time".
MCChris Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 "But in recent years, she struggled with job woes and the stress of care-giving for her elderly mother."Yep, I can relate. Life can be overwhelming at times. Sorry to hear she chose this method of exit.
stratacus Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Here is a St. Louis Riverfront Times article with a couple of performance videos
jwhitcomb3 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Terrible news. Scott Miller in April, and now Faye Hunter. Mitch Easter must be in a state. So sad.

It's the job of every one of us to show that love every chance we get. The smiles or kind gestures we make at seemingly the most insignificant moments can be the thing that makes them say "not today" and maybe tomorrow they start to get better, or things begin to turn around. It doesn't matter if it's someone close to us, or a total stranger we encounter at the grocery store. Be nice - Give the world something to believe in. You just might save a life.
marcnorth Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 That's too bad, I hate to see another one go. RIP
