This is why I never wipe down my guitars.

Same here. Especially on the side where my right arm pits sits after playing, while wearing a sleeveless t-shirt. That's after running down the street in the 90 degree heat while being chased buy the fuzz after pilfering a 30 pack and shoving it down my pants. Talk about blue balls. I don' think women fully understand what blue balls feels like. Giving birth, Ha. I'm 48 and I just discovered the other day why they are called t-shirts.

I'm telling you, it's the 4108 clear that is used. It's dries like a fucking rock. It won't move with the woods in that area of the guitar. Newman60 has fixed a few. He has a secret process. I don't know what it is, but I've sanded and buffed a few of his fixes. I still don't know why they switched from regular lacquer (Is that spelled right?) to 4108.

One more "e", and that would have pushed it, Jef.

Personally, I find it a major embarrassment with the brand and it kills me when fans try to act like it's ok. Hamers are/were expensive top end guitars and there is no excuse for this sort of thing, or for the hassle they gave some of us who demanded they stand up and deal with their customers in a professional manor. I had them refinish a guitar with their factory flawed finish and all I got was moaning on their part. It's another of the many reasons dealers dropped the brand, didn't want to carry the brand or don't give a decent price on trades. Imagine buying a car and the paint starts flaking off a year after you bought it.

I asked Mirrorimij today who you are Ceeb, and he wasn't sure. I forgot to ask Newman60. Do I know you?

We've met briefly a couple times, I'm sure. But no we don't really know each other.

Ouch. Guys on the floor who have busted their ass to make fans guitars the best they can be with what they have to work with all these years, have never been involved with either higher ups, salesmen's, rep's or repair rep's interaction with customers. Be it new guitar orders or repairs. It is sad to hear fans have been treated that way at some point. If you have specifics on who gave the fans shit, please say so. Hamer employees on the floor (Just to say again "WHO BUSTED THEIR ASS ON THE FANS GUITARS") were never allowed to communicate with customers. Things like the 4108 lacquer, which causes this problem, was already being used when I started in 2002. It has never been explained to me why they switched to it. Same thing with some other questions in the production. Fuck, it took me 3-4 years to get the bridges moved back because of the intonation situation with the G string. The guys on floor have always produced EACH Hamer on a personal level. Try getting that at Gibson, Fender, PRS, etc. Jesus fucking Christ, to this day, ask Newman60 and Northfield, everytime I finish a custom order and it leaves, I'm like a mom freaking out, "Are you going to be ok on your own?" Same with those guys. So thanks for making all of us feel like shit for all the hard work we guys due on the floor because some asshole, dipshit doesn't manger/rep doesn't know how to deal with customers on a human level or who have made stupid decisions in the production process.

If I had to guess it's because nitrocellulose lacquer yellows and cracks and even though relics have been hot for a few years now they weren't in 1991. That and they were probably already using nitro. from Lawrence McFadden who suggested they switch to 4108. I haven't used it in years, there's other urethanes available I like better.

Has anyone ever seen the delamination at the neck joint on an opaque finished guitar?

Jackass,

First, make no mistake, Hamer USA's build quality, consistent use of superior materials and overall excellent attention to detail make them and a true bargain compared to the other brands. You and the other luthiers' incredible skill sets are what make that all that glorious magic come together in each guitar. I see each one of them as 100 percent musical instrument, but also a 100 percent work of art. Hell, my wife can't play a note but even she recognizes the exceptional quality and real beauty of these guitars. The members of this fan club are the overwhelming proof that none of this needs to be defended.

I may not own a ton of guitars, but like most of us I have finger-humped a couple hundred of them throughout my life. While my personal collection is quite modest - EVERY SINGLE ONE - of my Hamer's is extremely special. Not just special to me, but universally special. I have sold more Hamer's for you guys by allowing my friends play mine and then letting that remarkable moment play-out and speak for itself. Words alone can't do them justice.

Ask Kim to to show you some of the emails I've sent him over the years raving about the Hamer guitars I've purchased that you guys' masterfully crafted. I have nothing but the highest respect and admiration for your guys' incredible talents.

I've been jazzed-up since 1989 when I picked up my first USA Hamer it hasn't changed a bit since then.

As you can see I like Quagmire. Seeing as how I suck at posting pictures/videos, how about someone posting some Quagmire Giggadees?

It really does not matter at all to me whether you bring down the house at Madison Square Garden on a regular basis, or knock shit off the walls in Mom's Spare Bedroom.

Play often and enjoy the hell outta your stuff - beats any number of less worthy alternatives!

I enjoy the hell out of gigging, but as Danny Gatton once said, the best guitarist in the world has probably never left his basement...

I don't think it's got anything to do with the guys on the floor, it's the people above who refused hameritis as a warranty item, and it's the fans who just accepted it as part of the character of the instrument that bugs me. People shouldn't be buying new $2-4,000 instruments to have hand prints in the finish or having the finish start bubbling and peeling off.
