Ralph Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 So your saying LL Cool J and all the other rap bands that have been inducted, should be in there. Hell, that's like allowing a baseball player should be in the Football hall of fame.
MCChris Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 So your saying LL Cool J and all the other rap bands that have been inducted, should be in there. Hell, that's like allowing a baseball player should be in the Football hall of fame.I'm saying bands like them have already been inducted and will continue be, so it's a waste of energy to object to it.Were people as annoyed when Sam Cooke, a pop crooner and not a rock'n'roll singer, was inducted the very first year?http://rockhall.com/inductees/byyear/1986/I'd argue that rap artists have more business being in a hall of fame devoted to rock'n'roll, a term that has come to represent a spirit of rebellion, than an utterly non-dangerous Motown act like the Four Tops.
cynic Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I do tend to look at the R&RHOF as more of an American Music HOF than only R&R in the traditional sense. In terms of the listed bands being game changers, Link Wray, Deep Purple, and Kiss should be at the top of the list. Nirvana will be as well, though I kinda feel the same way about them as Ray Charles felt about Elvis. The Zombies did double the output of other one hit wonders, but I wouldn't say they're HOF material.

JohnnyThunders Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 My hometown, Cleveland Ohio, has lot of great things, including moderate cost of living, great parks, lots of good cheap golf courses, lots of cool concerts, nice big lake, great orchestra and great museums. Lots of different ethic foods and some great beer. Not that I drink it anymore, Tito's for me.Unforatunetly, the current Clowns, Cadavaliers and of course the inapporaiately named baseball team are pretty much worthless. But the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame as Johnny Rotten apply puts it is a "piss stain.Don't care who is in, get's in or doesn't get in. Like sports in general, waste of time.

Spent my first 26 years outside Cleveland, and agree with all of this. I've never been to the RnRHoF, and I DRGAF about who they enshrine or not...I gave up caring after the nth year that Rush wasn't on the list
robbie Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I urge anyone who doesn't care about the RnR Hall of Fame to do the right thing... and vote for the Replacements. It's the ultimate FU.
