What Hamer do I need? Or maybe Not?

I need a fast neck, not too big, too wide or flat, like an 82 special. Needs to sound killer at very low like 80-90 db, cleanish to black keys/white stripes if driven with some fuzz or od pedal. Tone more towards the mid-low, not bright.

What do you guys think.

thanks

I think an old Prototype or Phantom would be up your alley. I think they are real sleepers and have a lot of tones available with the tri-buckers.

Given the mention above, I'm guessing you've tried an 80's special and it didn't do one of those things. How was it not working for you?

Prototypes will be on the brighter side.

For sure

Yep definitely, I have reworked my whole rig around them. Although great with a Fuzz pedal IMHO. ;)

specials are great and I have 2, just was looking for something that would go better at lower volumes as I'm ditching the amps and going digital.

How about an artist or some other semi hollow body type hamer?

How does a vintage carve neck suit you? I believe a lot of the stock vanguard-type models came with the vintage carve neck. It's definitely not a baseball bat, but the ones I've played are a more of a handful than my '83 Special.

I really like the Artist Mahogany models. I'll bet you can dial down some of the "zing" that comes from the P90s if they're too bright out of the gate. Or get the humbucker model. :)

If you going digital does it really matter what guitar you use? I know a little, but you should be able to dial in just about any guitar at any volume doing it that way.

That's what I was thinking also but was thinking Maybe I need something new guitar wise, haven't bought anything in 4 years. I'll keep looking maybe something will come up that is interesting. If not no problem.

Thanks for all the help, guys.

Something like a Les Paul Studio might work. Big chunk of mahogany and humbuckers will be less edgy.
