Danke Sir Douglas Randy
wyldbil Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I started to suggest Goo Gone, but isn't that the same thing as "That orange peel shit"?You may be down to naphtha now. THAT'll get it off. (I believe it will, anyway...)I hate using naphtha, but sometimes it's the only solution.
Disturber Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Try using a light car finish polisher. You aply a thin layer to the finish and let it dry. Then you polish it off. Not only doesit remove scratches & small dentsit will guaranteed remove allyucky stuff as well. I had a prettynasty SS1 that was a pain to clean up,but with a bottle of some sort from Turtewax it finallyworked.
tafkathundernotes Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Something Greg suggested to me was Meguiar's cleaner wax. Great stuff. If that doesn't work, try the naptha - just be careful.
Armitage Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 A lot of things actually soak into the finish surface, they're there for ever... and nitro yellows on it's own... you may not get it all out.
cmatthes Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Armitage is correct - it may not be possible to get the yellowing out of a finish, although the naptha will remove the gunk and grime accumulated over years. Just don't smoke while you're doing that little job, or you'll be like the Flaming Banana man.
BCR Greg Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. Over and over. The yellowing will not go, but the oxidized top coat of laquer will.
m chops Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 when i play the neck after about 15 minutes its like the shit is coming out of the pores and makes my palm stick to the back of the neck I had a 4003 for a while - don't recall the year. It was in pristine condition. But it had a soft finish on the neck and yes, it did get sticky. I believe that is a "known" issue with some 4003s.
