burningyen Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I agree with Dave, seems like a reasonable price for an unusual set of features, with cosmetic issues that are common to Hamers. Not the deal of the century, but reasonable.
cmatthes Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 What would a comparable Gibson or other USA-made beast sell for? I know that's hardly relevant when discussing used Hamers, however, if somebody, from outside this group for example, were to pick that guitar up, it may be equivalent or better than their $2,500 standard for similar guitars. For the right person, that isn't a crazy price. While I agree that in the used Hamer market reality we cultivate and are familiar with that may be a stretch, but $1,300 would seem cheap to somebody else. Hell, a USA Strat that they slap together and pump out by the tens of thousands every year sells for well more than that.
kizanski Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Kiz is just cranky because the Giants lost to the Cowboys. This only means I happen to have an excuse today. What would a comparable Gibson or other USA-made beast sell for? I know that's hardly relevant when discussing used Hamers, however, if somebody, from outside this group for example, were to pick that guitar up, it may be equivalent or better than their $2,500 standard for similar guitars. So it's not relevant, but you're going to draw a comparison anyway. Ok.
Sugartune Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 There's a lot of stuff out there that's more than I'd pay for, however, for the right person with the money and a lack of patience, they will go to someone, or the price will drop and then it sells. If I wanted this guitar, price alone wouldn't make me hesitate. I haven't seen a lot of gold tops at all, let alone one with crowns and HBs. So, perhaps there's a buyer out there at that price? Most definitely, there's a lot more in that $800-1000 range. Does the seller want it gone, or does the seller want what they feel it's worth. It's not quite anywhere near the outrageous territory we've seen other things posted at, so we'll see. My guess is price will drop to $1200 and will be sold, or an offline buyer in the $1000-$1100 range will be found.

dhuber Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Off topic a bit. I'm not a gold top fan at all. However I'm curious is that guitar all mahogany or is it maple under the gold top.
cmatthes Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 It's a plain (not figured) rock maple top.
