couple tally's on reverb

FWIW, the DDs make it a more unique instrument, IMO. I kept my original one stock. When I picked up an EM version here, I upgraded to "boo-teak" pups and it became more the fire breather.

Yah the DDs are cool, however, they were too "specialized" for me. I put some WCR cherrybuckers in there and it sounds great not to mention they make the guitar super useful for the many styles I try to throw at it...

So, I fired her up again last night with a variety of tones/styles. It really goes from a super clean jangle to a QOTSA super fuzzy monster.

All depending on switch position and stomp boxes/amp channels.

And then getting used to the neck profile which is a little larger than I prefer....but that could change with more time.

I am super impressed.

Great to hear, Rees!

Very nice tally. Great you like it.

I've owned a regular Talladega, but curious to hear if anyone's played them with humbuckers, and how that was.

(I'd expect the Talladega Pros to be a better option for hums; but it may just be that I find it difficult to imagine how they would sound in a regular Talladega.)

well, i'm guessing you're probably referring more to the maple neck of the regular tally's vs. the mahogany necks of the tally pro... but in my case i have a custom built tally with the same big mahogany neck that you would get on the tally pro. so, even though i haven't actually changed the pickups yet, i'm pretty convinced that my guitar will sound as good as any other mahogany necked 25.5" scale guitar with humbuckers (ie: Gibson Johnny A).

^^ You should cal Josh Gravelin (or some other winder) already and get some new pickups in that thing! WAY too nice a guitar to sit idle with pickups that leave you wanting.

I had a Godwood in the bridge of my departed Tally and it sounded great. Excellent cleans, took pedals well, and very punchy... hey, that pup now resides in my Standard and it sounds great too.

My Tally has these http://www.creamery-pickups.co.uk/custom-handwound-pickups-from-the-creamery/wide-range-thinline-humbucker-replacements.html#.VjUDTSunEo4

It sounds like a tele on steroids. Still has that chimey top end that you expect from a a tele but bigger. It's a well balanced pup. And when you put them in series or parallel they get HUGE. Tons of big tight booty, balanced mids and the top is still there.

I thought about putting the DoubleD's back for a minute, then I spent some time with these. They are RAD!

Beauties, and Cync is great o deal with!
