django49 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I SHOULD be selling the one I already have, but that DOES look good.
Steve Haynie Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 The natural finish is cool. The bass looks like it is mostly unplayed.
mc2 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Well....at least it's not black, like almost all of the Chap 12vers. That said..... "Black Guitars Matter" Have to be politically correct these days
django49 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 ^^^^^Okay, so maybe it is NOT PC......"All Guitars Matter".Well, maybe NOT Heritage.......
MR714 Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I have the matching 8-string to that. Would love to bring that into the family!!!
DBraz Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 What a lovely looking bass. One day I'll convince myself I need one...
geobluto Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 you could always double your twelve string... I think Tony Levin just crapped himself...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU20TS1vvCg
tobereeno Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 What a lovely looking bass. One day I'll convince myself I need one...you need one. no Hamer collection can really be complete without one of these monsters. Bi-amp it for maximum effect. It is a rarely played instrument in my collection; the B12S I had, I sold for that reason. I immediately felt the emptiness of being a Hamer lover without a 12 string bass, and found a replacement within months.
Bobby Marshall Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 If you know bass, you owe it to yourself to have a 12ver. It is the same but different.I would say a 4 string is to a 12 string what a power drill is to an impact driver. They look similar but definitely fill different roles and are not interchangable.
geobluto Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Saw this 8-string Postal Dixie Flyer on reverb... wish I had the scratch to pick this one up... awesome tone (check out the video at the bottom of the listing)https://reverb.com/item/404863-postal-handmade-dixie-flyer-barn-wood-8-string-octave-bass-seymore-duncan-p-pickup?_aid=watcheroffer

django49 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 "Postal Guitars start out life as a board" At least he is being aboveboard. (As opposed to Caitlyn Jenner who did not start life as a broad......)
geobluto Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Saw this 8-string Postal Dixie Flyer on reverb... wish I had the scratch to pick this one up... awesome tone (check out the video at the bottom of the listing)https://reverb.com/item/404863-postal-handmade-dixie-flyer-barn-wood-8-string-octave-bass-seymore-duncan-p-pickup?_aid=watcherofferThat may be one of the most hideous things I've seen!Hideous, yes... but the tone is killer... I'm sure we can all find a guitar and/or bass out there that looks like it was taken to the woodshed (couldn't help myself) a few times and beaten with an ugly stick, but still sounds great... definitely a "butta-face", but it sounds great... (yeah, I know the builder had a little echo/reverb added in the video.... but damn it sounded good...)
Steve Haynie Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 That bass sounded good in the video, but for the money it would be nice to have something that looks nice, too. That bass looks like something to use in a video, but not on stage.
cmatthes Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 That bass looks like something to use in an unlit basement.
geobluto Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 LOL... dig the unlit basement comment Agreed this bass is ugly as ugly can be, but same thing was said for the Steinberger basses when they came out in the 80's... Look at the atlansia basses from japan... absolute horror shows to look at... until you plug them in and play... thought that was the main idea, but in comparison to today's music industry standards (looks > talent), I guess I was wrong...
geobluto Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 It's all about the look! LOL..Think I already used up my "facepalm meme" quota for this Site
cmatthes Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 That's an old HFC quote - might predate you by a decade!
django49 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 That bass looks like something to use in an unlit basement. For some reason, that calls to mind an old girl friend......
