zorrow Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Which is the heaviest wood one could use to build a guitar body? I mean the heaviest/densest of them all. Any idea? TIA!

aknapp Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Use brass knobs and a brass bridge. Those will add some weight to the body, enough that you can probably pick whatever body wood you want.
The Shark Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Heavy guitars don't sound good to me. And an ebony board for that heavy guitar just makes it worse. JMHO. Sorry.
jaberwock Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 My old school mate Dave had an all Brazilian rosewood Les Paul, made by a local luthier Doug Binskin; weighed in at over 12 pounds. As you can probably guess from the photo this was back in the eighties; he went on to have a very successful career in the music industry, toured with Jeff Beck for ten years, then worked with Stevie Winwood, Gary Moore, and a host of others.
jaberwock Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Better pic of my friends all Brazilian rosewood Les Paul. His Chiropractor said it has permanently deformed his left collarbone.
Steve Haynie Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 A Brazilian rosewood body... and an ebony fretboard. Ironic, is it not?
