Disturber Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 I heard the term "Grover `Milk bottle` tuners" today. Never heard it before. They are more a replica of the old ones, or something? Can anyone give me a better explanation of what these are? AND, did Hamer use this version for their guitars, or another type of Grover tuner?
velorush Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Googling provided this (apologies for the gold finish ), though I am not certain why the term "milk bottle" applies. The Sweetwater page notes, " Vintage-style "Milk Bottle" design." I'm not seeing it... These are what's on the Senior. Very good tuners.... and obviously with vintage milk-bottle design.
velorush Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Ah, the Stew-Mac site had a little more information (intrigued, I've never heard the term either), "The original Rotomatic® look, with distinctive "milk bottle" profile on the worm gear housing." It's the housing that is milk-bottle shaped. Okay, now I see it. The worm gear housing does look like a milk bottle.
Disturber Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Yeah, I too Googled at first and found the Stew Mac page. Made me non the wiser? I think my Hamer Grover tuners looks like that, but what do I know.
Armitage Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 It's the squarish pearloid tuner button. Google Ace Frehley Grover and you'll see pix.
cmatthes Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Technically, THESE are the Grover "Milk Bottle" tuners, as far as I've known (going back to the late '70s):
