Recommendations for a Strat Body Refin (Nitro)

Question

Long story short, I'm considering the purchase of a new F@nder 'original '60's' US made strat w/ sunburst finish only to have someone refin the body in Fiesta Red. Other stock color options for the model are Oly white and pink (a near miss). I'm usually not one for red in general or red guitars but have been watching some Gary Moore vids recently, and.....

The need is not urgent but I thought I'd inquire about who may be able to do the job (and a ballpark cost). FWIW I am located in Norcal, Bay Area.

Thanks

Mark and Matt Jenny at MJT in Missouri. They painted my relic "desert sand" tele and I've had a few other MJT paintjobs (non-relic paint) cross the bench. Excellent work, great prices and stellar customer service and communication. They also offer pre-finished USACG bodies, they acquired USACG a few years ago IIRC. Before that I think Wildwood was their body supplier.

Thanks so much, @Jeff R! The tele looks great -- BTW, what's the rhythm pickup in that thing?

I don't need the relic treatment but like the actual custom colors Fender painted BITD, it would be cool to see the sunburst peek out from behind the Fiesta on the off-chance I actually INFLICT WEAR to the body. Looks like they'll do a refin for $299-. I'll def give them a shout if I proceed.

I'm assuming that Jeff's experience with MJT is several years in the rearview?

MJT has been a bit of a shitshow for the last year or two.  I'm glad I got mine when I did.  More customer complaints for sub-par, flaking finishes, badly routed bodies that won't accept USA Fender spec parts...

Well, that's not what you want.

My last experience with them was three years ago. Thanks for the more recent info!

That was about my last experience with them as well.  Since they bought the trainwreck that was USACG, it's been an uncontrolled downward slide from my vantage point.

This showed up today at DGS (no affiliation), and got bought almost immediately...topekatj, you didn't snag this, did you?  There might be more of 'em out there, if fundage isn't an issue:

Hey @crunchee: no I did not, probably a nice player but I’m not into the heavy relic thing. I do like the look of this one, a lot less overdone. The color is listed as Tahitian coral, but looks like Fiesta to me.

When I get a clear look at my finances in May I may see if I can order either an ‘original 60’s’ model or some other model in Fiesta, ‘NOS’. I also like the features of the rosewood Eric Johnson Strat but don’t want fingerboard binding.
