topekatj Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 No bids on a $950- starting price, auction ends Sunday. It appears the tuners have been bonked out of alignment but otherwise looks jake, with case(!). https://www.ebay.com/itm/175217957231?hash=item28cbcdd96f:g:P4MAAOSwKzViOpNH
HamerCustomEr Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 What kind of pickups are in this Blitz bass? I have seen Hamer Blitz basses with Dimarzios before, but I am pretty sure that those had polepieces. I have seen OBL pickups before, but they had dual rails. Here is a cool 12-string Blitz bass: EMG pickups are usually branded on the lower left corner. These pickups do not have polepieces, rails, or branding. I am pretty sure that this bass is passive, even though there is a control cavity cover on the back. What do you think?
topekatj Posted April 1, 2022 Author Posted April 1, 2022 Good eye. I’m guessing they’re Dimarzio bassline units.
crunchee Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 I have the same exact, original passive pickups in my '85 Cruisebass, and was just about to ask the same question as HamerCustomEr. Anybody know what kind they are for sure? BTW, the control cavity cover is for, well, the controls, at least on mine there's nothing inside the cavity other than the pots and usual wiring from the PUs to the jack, and I'm pretty sure nothing's been converted on mine.
cmatthes Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 They're DiMarzio (Passives). The "P" pickup on mine was swapped out for another DiMarzio with pole pieces later on.

Thanks for the info. Your Blitz bass is a beauty! I like to use A-frame stands and racks to hold up my guitars and basses. (The only exception is my Vector import, which doubles as its own A-frame stands. If I bought a Blitz bass, I guess that I would have to invest in one of these hanging stands. Is this a Hercules?
cmatthes Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 That's just a cheapie stand I used for one of the book photoshoots. I usually use Hercules stands, but the locking mechanism would have obscured too much of the neck.

It is supported by the bracket around the neck and the two pivoting lower supports. Pretty clever design for a "cheapie stand". How sturdy is it?
JGale Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 No n no. Both wrong. Those are prehensile arms and legs. They are evolving...

Is anyone bidding on it? M
topekatj Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 Hmmmm. Was curious to see what this went for, there was a single bid earlier today but I now see that the seller ended the auction and has relisted the bass starting at $900-. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-Hamer-Blitz-Bass-Guitar-Made-in-USA/275251709225?item=275251709225&pageci=74051a95-0334-43b5-9bee-9db688b3fa1d&redirect=mobile
