HamerCustomEr Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 No affiliation. This listing was up for an hour, it said, before it sold. I was looking at it while it was still live, but it sold out from under me. https://reverb.com/ca/item/64418399-hamer-chaparral-max-bass-1991 An ebony board with boomers! Ah, easy come, easy go. This is what I get for only checking Reverb six times per day.
crunchee Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Ouch. I'm not normally into Chap basses, as the body is a little too small and the bass-side horn a little too short for my liking, but this coulda changed my mind! Maybe. Just keep in mind that it's maple necked with a maple body and a ebony fretboard, so it's bound to be bright-sounding, plus it's got gold hardware, so maybe we all missed a bullet there.
cmatthes Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 I’m a fan of those. Two Chap Basses were my main gigging staples before I switched over to a Cruisebass, thanks to Thundernotes 18 or so years ago. Really great basses and that was probably half what it should have sold for!

That said, I would have pulled the trigger on that fast than Alec Baldwin. Fuck!
topekatj Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 Interesting ‘jumble’ on the controls layout— is there a reason why they’re not in the basic four knob diamond shaped configuration?
Ralph Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 They won't get it. I thought $1200 was a fair price. Everyone is inflating the prices.

I think that the three controls together are volume, bass and treble, with the separate control acting as a mix control between the two pickups.
P Franco Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 I’ve got one, but it only has 3 knobs. Hmmm. Anyone know details about mine? It does have a Hamer 4 latch case.
