BadgerDave's hold off the IRS goons sale continues

Edited to lower price - see below Next up, the Calibird. This is a 27 fret USA Californian neck with ebony board and boomers on a custom Warmoth firebird body.

The neck profile is the same as every other Cali I've played, just a bit thicker than most shredder necks. Not big, but not Ibanez thin, either. The fretboard and frets are in excellent+ condition. The frets have been leveled, crowned and polished and the action is shredder-friendly low w/o buzzing. There is a small chip on the top of the headstock that hasn't gone through to the wood, and the paint on the front of the headstock is slightly worn - again not through to the wood. I can send a close-up photo if this is a concern.

The body is alder, finished in a slightly metallic sherwood green. It looks very much like the old Gibson FB color (Kerry Green?). The body is in virtually mint condition wth no marks, dings or scratches. The pickups are a new Duncan 59/JB set, standard LP wiring, and the trem is a Kahler with brass rollers.

A note about Kahler trems. They have a reputation for being "tone suckers". This one isn't. I beleive that the reason some Kahlers dampen string vibration is because they are set up with an insufficient break angle behind the saddle. Fender Jaguars have the same problem. On this guitar, the saddles are raised sufficiently to get a good break angle and strong down pressure on the rollers. As a result, the guitar produces solid sustain and strong tone.

Weight is approximately 8.5 lbs. It feels like a light Les Paul. I can get you a precise measurement if you like. I addressed the common Firebird "long neck" and balance issues by installing front strap buttons in two locations - on the upper horn and on the far front edge of the neck pocket. Using the first results in a feel very much like the Gibson. Using the second brings the guitar farther back into your body and places the neck in a position very close to where a "standard" guitar like an LP or Hamer would lie.

I'd like to get $1,000.00 for this guitar (+ shipping and PayPal fees), which is significanlty less than the cost of the parts. I'll throw in the boogered irredescent Cali body that came with the neck. It was routed for both a Floyd and a Kahler and still has it's original pickups (ParAx Trembucker and (SD1?) single coil), pots and wiring.

No case, but I'll pack it to withstand WWIII.

I sold the old Cali Body (Thanks Gatorbyte!) so the price is lowered to $900.00 shipped (lower 48) and I'll eat the PayPal fee.

It kills me to see this happening. If I could I'd loan ya the G-note and hold the Calibird as collateral, just to help fight off the goons But that G-note is going to the Revenooers

Didn't this use to have Phat Cats?

I sincerely appreciate the thought, Tom, but my circumstances really aren't that dire. I could borrow the money or file for an extension, but I want to get the tax bill behind me ASAP. I looked around and realized there was absolutely no reason for me to own 30 guitars. In a strange way, the IRS has helped me re-prioritize a few things.

Hey Badger dave: Do you want to sell only the old cali, body. Let me know I'm interested. sstarynchak@neo.rr.com. Gatorbyte007.

Hate to see so much IRS pain. I got killed on taxes last year for about $2500 due to kids schooling that was NOT deductable.

Yeah! WTF????

Truth to tell, it didn't really take the Revenooer gorillas to help me figure it out, either. But it's a pretty good nudge. And dammit, the Calibird was always one of those "Boy, if that EVER comes up for sale..." guitars.

"In a strange way, the IRS has helped me re-prioritize a few things." BASTARDS!!!..... :D I like looking at all your guitars. Now if those were suits hanging there, well what a hideous waste THAT would be. You're NOT going to start buying suits are you? Good luck with the sale.
