You're half right.  It is wildly overpriced, but it is worth 5 grand to literally no one on this planet.

Ok… now you’re getting pickey 😂. Preferences, not deal killers are bound, and crowned . Color is tough because each one I see is more beautiful than the next. I just missed one in green that I loved and I hate green guitars. To be forward, I don’t play guitar. I just want a quality piece in my home when players stop by

If quality is your priority you can get a later model Hamer like a Studio.  If you must have a flat top stick with the Sunburst.

Funny you said that. I just saw a beautiful studio for 2k and was mulling it . I do love the flat top though. Plus a close friend of mine has ho passed owned two really early Hamer Standards ( I believe serial numbers 43 and 44). He also had an early sunburst. I can’t handle holding a standard, plus the price. But, if I can find a sunburst in the $2500 range I’m interested

Consider a Special FM.  They did not have binding, but the maple is thicker than on the old Sunbursts.

This person went through many Hamers. This of course was in the late 70s. You would have gone crazy, because when he sold them, he sold them cheap.

The Studio Custom that @JGalehas for sale is a beauty ... I know any guitarist visiting you would be quite impressed with the quality of that babe .... just something to consider.

Another person bring let’s say optimistic on the price? I see only two sunbursts for sale and they both seem to be priced at double Value. It’s a beauty though
