hamerhead Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Nice snag! It'll be great to see it up and running again!
topekatj Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Nice snag, you’ve got the critical bones of a great instrument. Since the Acoustic voice is currently mute, how’s the tap tone? 😀

hamerhead Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Dammit, Kiz. You're really out of it today. Everybody knows about tap tone.

smith Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I actually strung it up Friday night. It's going to be a really bright guitar....very good note separation up and down the fretboard. I had to tighten the truss rod a 1/4" turn... now the action is nice and low. It plays cleanly. The nut needs some attention, but I was expecting that when a saw that it had probably been strung lefty at one time, due to the strap button hole on the lower horn. Now I've got to build a wiring harness and wait for the pickups. I didn't get a chance to check out it's "tap tone", lol.
smith Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Finally got it together...for now. Pearly Gates in the bridge. Fender Shawbucker in the neck. Speed knobs were all I had in the parts bin, so I threw those on there. I'm still planning to get the Dimazios rewound, but for now, I'll play it like it is. It sounds really good...excellent note definition. The only thing I had to buy for it was the Shawbucker, which was $50.
topekatj Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Damn, was wondering today what became of ol’ red! Good work! ETA: Don’t forget the switch tip!
smith Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Thanks, forgot about the tip. I.should have one around here somewhere.
topekatj Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 👍on the switch tip! Looking again at the photo of the entire guitar it’s striking how large the Hamer logo is on the headstock. I’m curious when the STADIUM logos came into being and/or if the Hamer font on all the checkerboard logo Specials are so large.
