That was me.. I want to thank you PF for sharing this link. I'm gonna see how it looks when it arrives, as they have the 48-hour return policy. I've been waiting for something sorta like this, and that price-color-case combo won me over. I can handle an ugly neck if the guit works. It does freak me out a little, like what if I need to use the truss rod.. I've never owned a repaired guitar so I may just leave it tuned down.

I am hopeful. 😀

Nice entry!

Looks like it was done reasonably well, some others here can certainly comment better on that. If nothing else, as long as it's playable, you'll have a cool beater guitar.

Nice grab...and Welcome to the hood....I mean Forum.

Please let us know if she works out for you.  I've heard that repaired necks are sometimes stronger, but they still give me the Heebie Jeebies.

I wonder if this is the one that was for sale on Marketplace in the Appleton WI area if I remember right a few months back.  Had significant neck joint repair, and was going cheap.  I was seriously thinking about that one.  It was a 95, sunburst top.

I'm really happy about this. It's kind of liberating not having to worry about adding bumps and dings when they happen. Terrific beater. The neck is straight as a ruler and arrived perfectly intonated. The locking hardshell aftermarket case is nice and compact, but not a brand name in sight. New strings were on and slinky, so I got her up to pitch slowly and without issues. Original Hamer tuners are clean with a couple hard-to-turn ones. Frets show love but not really noticeable play-wise. The barrel jack provides quiet and butter smooth insertion; the pots are clear and the tone knob has the diametric crack that I may glue together later. The body is in very good condition with just finish bumps.

The neck itself is relatively slim and comfortable, like a shallow or flattened C. Doesn't fill your palm nearly as much as the Newport or Monaco for example, but I wonder how it compares to the Artists and Sunbursts. My gripe with this neck is the gloss/clearcoat used by the repair man lacks the surface smoothness of the original finish. It's kinda friction-y and sqeaks and and it's annoying at times. The fret ends show a mysterious white dust which may just be old oxidized people-residue, so no biggie. Speaking of, the bass-side saddles are still caked with the stuff 😅

The neck joint is the star of the show here, so I removed the pickup and found a piece of grey foam glued in underneath it. Is this normal? I wanted to see if any work was done beneath the pickup, but if the foam was there as an original factory installation serving a purpose, I don't wanna touch it (and it might imply they didn't have to get too invasive with the heel joint repair...unless they just glued a new piece down). You can see finish cracking on either side of the neck heel, but nothing seemed to flake off completely. The major crack is sealed to extremely low tolerances and I have yet to mistrust it.

Some of the image fidelity was lost during compression, but now for the grizzly deets...(1/2)

Congrats and also, are you some kind of professional guitar photographer?! What I mean is, what is your secret to such good photos?

Nice pics!   The foam under the P90 was used as a height adjustment instead of springs .  If it looks too compressed, you can probably use the foam from an old pickup case if you have one and cut to size.

Thanks for the info tweed!

Dave was right on both accounts to be honest, but yeah I just used my old sony alpha 230 with stock lens on Auto, going between flash and no flash with enough ambient lighting, followed by resizing+cropping via photoshop+MS Paint :)

Thinking aloud, it's quite fascinating trying to elucidate the repair process as an outsider to woodworking. Looks like dual dowel reinforcement into the original block and a small repaint did actually take place around the joint. As if the break was gentle enough to leave the joint mostly situated and all it took was that and some glue.

Either way. Sweet new roadie banger.

The back of one of mine was a little sticky and frictiony, good word! And I came across a post where somebody recommended treating it with fast fret, I did that and it has been great ever since! That is a pretty amazing product for the strings too.. think I got it at Sweetwater for 7 Bucks
