cornjulio Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Awesome machting headstock, not so awesome Floyd Rose or whatever that reason was that made them put screws through the neck etc.

Cboss Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 That is a really cool guitar except for that awful Floyd; was there some deep societal pressure back then to put tremolos on everything? Would there be a huge cavity routed out of the back for the claw and springs? That is a kahler locking nut, so 4 small wood screws, easy to fill That stupid Floyd string bar though, why is it even there? Unnecessary with the locking nut
Cboss Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 I'm not on facebook, is there anybody that could write this guy through Marketplace and ask him to call me on this? I'll PM the volunteer my contact info

Unnecessary with the locking nut 1) curious why would you want to fill the holes 2) the "string retainer" is there to put downward pressure on the strings to the nut "before tightening string clamps" 3) yes there would there be a huge cavity routed out of the back for the claw and springs... 4) yes there was some deep societal pressure back then to put tremolos on everything... you can blame EVH for that 🤣
Cboss Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Lol #4 re #2 that string retainer goes with a Floyd nut in order to keep strings from rattling (shitty engineering), keeps the string in a downward arc, again goes with a Floyd nut. The kahler locking nuts did not need that.. superflous, like rice rocket kids putting wings on the back of their front wheel drive civics

In this tragic case, a Sustain Block lost its life.
Cboss Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 I wonder if this could be reversed, out with the floyd and sustain block restored

In the case of 8 0213, only twice as much - lol. 19 minutes ago, Cboss said: I'm intrigued and motivated by the concept of doing right by something very special, no pun intended.. there is something spiritual about these pre acquisition hamers, people can tell just by picking them up.. and in my case there would be no cost as I do my own work, plus winter projects are fun to stack up That is incredibly impressive ❤ Who did that work? Filled with mahogany blocks then refinished? I agree, that's why I bought a Sustain Block and sunk a ton of money into it, and had BCR Greg restore it. And then sold it. Then I bought it back. I sunk even more money into it. I bought a NEW set of bullseye Grovers and had it completely redone by murkat. And then sold it again. Yes. Everything you're saying about me right now is true.

Beautiful guitar though 😍 and I admire the cause and what it took to get it there👍

Len Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 It's in my Backyard ... I sent the seller several messages but they have not responded yet ... I at least want to get a close in hands look at it ...
bry4321 Posted November 15, 2023 Author Posted November 15, 2023 Len he messaged me that he has a likely buyer coming Friday. I got the impression he may have been hammered by HFC members. Here is part of his message 🤣 It’s funny, I feel like I picked the right price for the guitar but I’ve been really blown away by the interest. There’s a small, very vocal contingent of Hamer USA fans it seems.
