I watched it yesterday. Well done documentary. Interesting to hear the story behind his rise to blues fame. Off course, as it's produced by his own company it's biased. But I did not know the importance of Kevin Shirley from the beginning and how he helped develop Joe's career with creative ideas outside of the studio.

The trip to the crossroads where Robert Johnson sold his sold the The Evil Belsebub was perhaps a non necessary feature. I would rather have seen more of a tribute to BB King, who took Joe in at an early age.

Still, a good watch. Made me respect Joe even more.

Thus proving the "I wouldn't go see that guy if he was playing in my living room" theory.  I just don't care for him.

Thanks for the heads-up.  Just finished it and enjoyed it very much.

Another thanks to the OP for posting this.  I watched it this morning and found it interesting.

I first heard of Bonamassa when I saw him live as the opener for (I think) Buddy Guy back around 2001.  He was an early 20s, pre-suit wearing Joe and I was blown away by his performance.  Loads of contagious energy that spread to every corner of the room...he just had the whole place in his hand.  He only had the one album out at the time and I grabbed a copy at the merch table on our way out the door.  I've listened to it maybe a half dozen times in total.

I've never seen him live again but have heard more recordings, none of which leave me wanting more.

I find him to be an incredibly interesting guy.  I enjoyed the documentary, I enjoyed his interview with Beato, I enjoy just hearing him talk about music and gear.  I'm amazed by by his noodling.  He's essentially the person my teenage self wanted to be....he owns ALL the toys and is just living life doing the things he enjoys doing.

Maybe he's just one of those guys that is best appreciated live?  He's a phenomenal player, but for me his recordings lack "it", and my opinion clearly matters as evidenced by his being the most successful blues recording artist ever.  🤷‍♂️

Don't you even like Black Country Communion? I love their albums.

But I think Kevin Shirley has been both a blessing and a bad thing for Joe. His productions always sound a bit too much. It's like when you do an ice cream shake and use to much sugar, cream and sweet ice cream - all at once. All the nuances disappear. I would like to hear Joe with a producer that like to take some risks. How cool would it not be if he was to work with Daniel Lanois or Jon Paul Jones as producers.

Love BCC so long as I don't have to watch Glen Hughes play with his mouth constantly agape.

I'd never given consideration of a different producer.  Very interesting idea.  Shirley certainly has a sound.  Might be great to hear him with a different sound.

I really thought the latest album was a marked improvement, especially with respect to his voice.  I find in far more listenable than prior albums (which I did enjoy, but never multiple times consecutively).

If so she didn't tell me lol.. just just rubs me the wrong way, he puts out such a bad vibe; that slickback hair, the indoor sunglasses, hyper social media awareness I'm sure..ugh.. and why write a book about yourself? (Unless you're Buddy Guy, but that guy is great, original, and has something to say)

Now you kids get off my yard!🤣
