Actually, not for me: I have a friend who plays in an 80s tribute band and is looking for a Scarab bass, à la Rick Savage. And since, as he said, I'm more "plugged in to the Hamer world" than he is, he asked if I could help track one down.

It would need to be right-handed, but any color is okay.

He's already watching Reverb and eBay - and there's nothing on there right now - but if any of y'all come across anything please let me know and I'll pass it along (I'm just a middleman here).

Thanks

On German Kleinanzeigen is an 86 Scarab Bass in white, with OHSC. No affiliation, but I could intermediate, if necessary.

Price seems very decent.

Perhaps the seller would ship to the US.

Wow! "MORE 80's!" and at around $1,300, it appears getting it here would be the only issue.

Shipping to Germany was a breeze in my experience.  Maybe from, as well?

This could have been a FedEx-specific issue, but when I'd ordered one from Italy and it arrived at our shores, FedEx was kind enough to have me fill out 3 pages worth of environmental info (where was the wood sourced from? What was the genus and species? etc.) before they would let it pass through. It wasn't a huge issue but I wasn't expecting it.

They certainly saw one Italian pinewood guitar imported that day.

Dang, smart-ish phones weren’t even a thing much before Steaming Steve croaked (1991)

ETA: What is that pointy backup bass to Rick’s right? It doesn’t appear to be another Scarab nor a STD.

Considering that HamerUSA  guitars and basses were made in the USA, nobody "should" have to fill anything out, but then of course, these are the times we live in.

I realize it's no Scarab, but this absolutely screams "80's!" and is nicely priced for its condition and having the OHSC.

Hamer Blitz bass 1983 - Red | Reverb

I’ll offer my ‘84 Blitz in the original case that’s WAY cleaner than that, for less if he’s interested.

Knowing your reputation, I'll bet that anything you offer would be WAY cleaner than that

Ok, Ok Chris, you're right.  I need to include Everyone on the HFC when I say that.

Seriously, any Hamer you buy here is going to be better cared for, and at a better price than any other site.

And I'm glad to see many Hamer guitars and basses being brought back to the best place they can be, The HFC.

It's almost guaranteed they will be well taken care of.

Looks to me to be a Jackson Kelly Bird

didn't Rick also play a late '80s/early 90s (gen2) 5 string Chaparral for a time? with EMGs?  Admittedly not nearly as good a look for the tribute band. - the above photo is of Hysteria out of Seattle, btw

Dana_V: your friend should make a move on that Blitz before one of us gets too interested. If I didn't already have a Gibson designer series Explorer...

I sent Chris a message this morning asking for his email; as soon as he gets back to me I'll pass it along to my friend and we'll see what happens.
