Jakeboy Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 I say make the guitar your own unless keeping it stock was part of the deal. I have an absolutely killer 10k Slammer repro in double cream that I’d sell if the PAF doesn’t work out. I also concur that the Shlabotnik Sisters are the finest humbuckers ever made. Just perfect and are now the standard for me. (See what I did there?). 4 Quote
Dave Scepter Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 PAF's are the greatest!... I don't care what anybody says 🙉 5 Quote
Brooks Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) Def swap the pups if you don't dig them. Personally, I dig chrome hardware. Edited May 25, 2024 by Brooks 1 Quote

Just perfect and are now the standard for me. (See what I did there?). I don’t know how the vintage DiMarzio will work out. I finally got a double-creme from Peter, as well as two period-correct creme mounting rings, but he still needs to ship, and then I’ll have to install everything. I will definitely keep you posted. The double-creme Slammer is of my interest too —thanks a lot for mentioning it. So, these are the things I need to address: 1- I dislike the sound of the bridge pickup on this guitar. 2- I dislike the chrome mounting rings. 3- I understand that double-creme (bridge) + zebra (neck) is the “standard look”, so I’ll go with that. I like that look too. 2 & 3 above are easy to address. 1, however, is a matter of taste. I’ll start with the DiMarzio PAF, and then will decide what’s next. 4 Quote

That’s why I’ve tried to keep it as it was, because that’s the way he liked it. But HELL no longer exists and Kev has moved on. Yet, I will keep the pickup and the chrome rings. One never knows, right? 6 Quote

After some exchanges with Josh, he put UOA5 in my Ultimates. Would like to try the A2 but chicken to do a swap. And they sound great as is Quote
