Guest pirateflynn Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Due to a resent vintage purchase a few of my beautiful Hamer guitars must go. 1st: 1980 Special in players condition. Nicks and dings, aged finish cracking on the top. Medium neck that tapers thicker toward the higher registers. Newer 6100 frets, 10s, WCR Crossroads, RS kit. Many HFCers have commented on how nice looking this one is. It sounds and plays great. W/ gig bag. $700.00 shipped and insured in the lower 48 or $500.00 without pickups and pots. It goes to eBay next week. Thanks, Ken
cordroad Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Ken, excuse my ignorance but I have 2 questions. What is/are WCR Crossroads? What is an RS kit? Thanks kindly,Tim
tomteriffic Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Sweet! Let me know when it gets down to the Graphic....
Guest pirateflynn Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 I'm in Los Angeles. WCR Crossroads are PAF style pickups by Jim Wagner and the pots/ electronics are by RS.http://www.crcoils.com/New_PIckups/new_pickups.html#crosshttp://www.rsguitarworks.net/catalog/index...1f5e2d7de7c4542

Moose Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Ken, excuse my ignorance but I have 2 questions. What is/are WCR Crossroads? What is an RS kit? Thanks kindly,TimI can vouch for the crossroads as one of the finest sounding PAF style pups I've ever used. They were designed to get the early clapton tone and they do it extremely well. My best sounding guitar, hands down, has a crossroads neck and a filmore bridge. And the price drop without them isn't worth it. Those things sell on ebay for almost what they cost new. That, and their rarity on the used market, should vouch for how good they sound. For that price, especially with the RS kit (a pricey and good sounding Hoveland capacitor and good pots with a nice taper) I'd get this guitar if I didn't already have an '81 that sounds spectacular.
black magic Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 The 6100 frets are cool!! I wish my Special had those, nice guitar bro!! Love the color also. Jack.
cordroad Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Ken, as they say, I'm as serious as a heart attack. I know I don't have a track record here but I think Uncle Greg will vouch for me.
kizanski Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Ken, as they say, I'm as serious as a heart attack. I know I don't have a track record here but I think Uncle Greg will vouch for me. While you're asking for pictures, I'm thinking of what I can move to get this bad boy in my house. For $700, that one photo and the details he has already given are all you really need to know.

jujisque Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 I'll vouch for Tim. I just bought an amp from him and the transaction was seamless.
cordroad Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 The special arrived today! I was like a kid on Christmas morning when I got home and opened the present. Kuddos to Ken for a great packing job. The guitar is everything he said it was and more. People, this guitar freakin screams. Plugged it into my recently modded Epi jr head and got lost for a while, if'n ya know what I mean. Damn near ended up with a woody. Finally took a break when the family threatened to evict me.
will_rawlings Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Crap! I just bought Dave's Sunburst! Oh the irony. I just get one axe an then there's another one around the same age up for grabs that gives me serious GAS. Damn sustain blocks man.
Guest pirateflynn Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 You're welcome Tim. Enjoy it and post some pics one of these days!
