thats what is so unfortunate about US built guitars. Big $$$$ for new retail. These outsourced guitars can have the same quality but for so much less that we've gotten used to being able to buy at a certain price point. Now, instead of the us market adjusting, i think they are trying to retain the "quality of the brand" in maintaining their high prices. If you drop the price, you must have dropped the quality, right? So, what do you do if you are an american manufacturer that needs to maintain brand, but not price yourself out of the market and at the same time try to compete against the big 2 or 3 who havent lowered their us built or custom prices either?

Thats exactly what else I wanted to get to, is the character of people who buy Hamers. We dont do it because "so and so" from suck nut band on rock 105 point whatever plays em'. We buy them because we love a fine instrument, and we love to play them (most of us) And typically none of us have a bazillion dollars to drop on customs or vintage stuff (which in all honesty, holds no appeal to me) Then to take that further, its not that we want a cheap guitar or we'd all be playin used schecters. We're willing to spend $1000 or more for something nice and we all have a shit load of them!!!! If we dont have more than 2 or 3, we want to. I certainly would'nt be on this forum if I didnt love Hamer. Ive been on other guitar forums, and havent found one yet without a half a dozen jerks on there, which makes it very unenjoyable. this is the place, and all you guys are for the most part , cool to talk with.

I posted this in Hamer brand loyalty, but I felt like I needed to make sure it was seen, and get others thoughts on this...........Hope this doesnt seem egotistical, I just would like to get others more specific opinions on the "Love of Hamers" and how deep that goes with each of you individually. Post as originally stated: Aside from my signature ibanez and my acoustics, i have no reason to buy other brands than Hamer. Ill explain why. I dont like fenders, I dont like gibsons, Except for my Ibanez's, i dont like imports. I dont like guitars with enormous headstocks i.e. Dean...........Cannot f'n stand those huge wingy headstocks. I dont like bolt-ons, I dont typically like painted instruments, though I have 4. Over the years ive been willing to buy whatever i play that i like regardless of these opinions, but i have found, opinions change over time. I like thin necks, I like fat necks, I like tone, I like singles, I like hums. I love set necks, and thick deep clear coats and beautiful would grain. I like heavy guitars, i like light guitars. very much like zorrow, i play all of them. Ive stated this before here, Ive never picked up a USA Hamer that I didnt like. Ive never had to constantly adjust the necks or action or intination on any of them.............EVER !!!!! They always stay set up regardless of humidity, temp, you name it. I just pick them up and play the shit out of them!!!! Why would I ever play something else. Ive played hundreds of different guitars, and none of them make me happier or solicit the same excitment and devotion than Hamer has. Have I had my issues with custom orders like others, YES. did it turn me off? YES for a time, but I came back for all of the reasons stated above. I know other guitars exist that have the same options, specs, looks an appeal, especially if its a custom from some obscure artisans' shop. There is something about a Hamer that is perfect for me. All of the models I own are guitars that i wouldnt give up for anything........anything!!! Im not new to Hamers and I dont have a blind, nieve love for anything..............I know this was long, but i feel like from my standpoint, it needed to be said.

Do you have any pics of the orange? If we dont have a paypal account, should we just arrange to send you a check or money order, etc.? Please e mail me, or ill pm you if i dont hear from you soon thanks, picks look great!!! makes me feel like we belong to some sort of fan club or something.....

What's the best bang for the $ with acoustic guitar's
landon w replied to Mindseyes's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
ive never been a big fan of the ovation tone.....spend a couple years in hawaii and youll get so sick of hearin it youll want to vomit just thinkin about it. Used taylor. ive noticed that they dont seem to be holding value lately. I dont know about under a thousand, but you can get them in good shape, cause we all baby what weve spent 3k on. Not usa but the artwood series Ibanez sound beautiful for the money, and you can get some gorgeous exotics. check ebay there too. a lot of dealers blowing those out. I have an artwood 7-string ibanez and it has a beautful beatuful tone.......jumbo, so that has a lot to do with it, plus real big neck being that its a 7 -

i think a lot of those lp guys dont want to open a can of worms. " i ll consider my LP the best of the best, so i wont ask about another nice production guitar for fear that itll show me stupid" i dont mean to come down on any LP guys hear on the forum, but i havent had any good experience with them AT ALL. And further more, the resale value of LP's along with people who dont know dick about guitars are all about les paul, les paul, les paul, les paul, les paul. im showing my jerk here, but im so balls deep in love with Hamers, that its gonna come out!!! -
very very cool.......it looks gorgeous!!!! now if it only had curb feelers

Fretboard Preference
landon w replied to Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Ebony for me, rosewood next. I have only liked maple on one guitar, the sillouette (music man) felt great, sounded gorgeous. The only other one i want to try is the cocabolo. Stole my idea, I had that cab made out of it and thought, if i ever have a custom built, i want a cocabolo fretboard. Im not envious of anything................except that fretboard, it actually almost angered me -
Hamer Brand Loyalty
landon w replied to Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
they are exceptional instruments, and are probably the only brand that can be bought without playing 'em first, which truly says it all about the quality. +1 How many times have all of us bought one from another member of the forum and when opened it up and played it, said "this guitar sucks!!" very seldom if at all -

i absolutely love hamers. I too had the experience of having my custom order refused back in 98'. That stopped me from buying them for a long time. I came around though. i stopped playing bolt ons w/ the exception of the ibanez guitars i have. there just isnt another set neck guitar that I feel compares. there is always an inconsistancy in other manufacturers that i just havent found with Hamer. I have played so many hamers of different years, models, pick up configs, etc. and have never, and i mean never been dissapointed. PRS, Gibson, Fender, all of them have a problem with QC, i guess. I realize many guitars will "feel" and "sound" different of the same model. Call it bias, call it nietivity, whatever, but I have not experienced this with Hamer...........................NOT ONCE even with the Korean Slammers BTW: 5 USA Hamers 1 Slammer 4 Ibanez 1 Schecter 1 Jackson 2 BC Rich 1 Yamaha Pacifica -
Which is the "most metal" guitar brand?
landon w replied to zorrow's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Super Chikan... (I learned about him here on the HFC) ("James Super Chikan Johnson is a Delta blues musician, guitar maker and artist based in Clarksdale, Mississippi.") STILL, I voted Jackson - Jackson is "my" idea of the metal guitar company. THIS HAS TO BE THE COOLEST PIC IVE SEEN IN A WHILE -
9's Or 10s on Studio Custom?
landon w replied to Studioplayer's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
go with 9's and a heavy bottom. 9-46 b and g strings are a bit heavier as well. -

Why not so much love for Hamer on the bay and TGP
landon w replied to Hgb5000's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
but lets be honest with each other anyway gentlemen, do we really want it to be a highly recognized brand? I dont, leave that to the imports. As soon as the custom shop gets more loaded than they are, you are going to end up with another GIB, PRS story, and the guitars will go to SHIT and wont have the quality or mystique. I, for one, enjoy big privy to a great guitar that I can be proud to own, and who cares if anyone knows what im playing...............I dont need my c@ck stroked because of what my headstock has written on it. As soon as i hear someone say, "I know this guy who has 3 LP's, this dude can play" I want to stop talking to that person, turn around and walk away.........they obviously do not have a clue. I want Hamer to be successful, but, lets not rush in an era of ruin on them just yet -

landon w replied to Hgb5000's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
uglier than an LP or Fender? ...............how is that possible I feel the same as far as the inaccessability. People go to sam ash or guitar center and see only the imports, and Ill put money on the fact that 75% of people who HAVE heard of Hamer, dont realize the USA's even exist -
Then, by that logic couldn't you say that an Artist will get you most of the way to a Newport...? I THINK the order would be: Solid Studio Artist Chambered Studio Newport My reasoning is that I believe that there is more 'fluting' (lol) in a chambered Studio than there is an Artist. A Newport, as originally designed, is much more hollow but if sealed up should get closer to a chambered Studio. Just an opinion. The solid Studios and the Artist that I owned were not THAT different. Im plus one-ing this one. (X10) I have a studio and an artist both with JB ( and 59 (n) and except for the difference in tone from the different neck profiles, they sound identical. I dont get any hollow tones out of my artist AT ALL. Tone comes from my amp settings, and as a matter of fact, i can get a hollower sound from my Mirage than the artist. probably the singles. I must admit though, that i have never played an artist with any other pup config. Might make a really big difference

First post: My first Hamer Guitar!

welcome aboard. nice guitar. now i ve got my eye on the flea bay special. You ve absolutely got the right thinking. I almost bought a brand new LP, beautiful red with gorgeous binding, hums. this was a looooonnnng tme ago, and the new price was $2850.00. well i was still young and at the time could not afford that with saving up for years. I was trying to figure out how to gt this thing. well i went in there and sat down with it to play it, and started noticing everything wrong with it from finish to $h!ty looking frets, bubbles in the lacquer..............etc. I decided to start looking at different guitars. In the meantime, the store opens a new location, moves to a bigger, fancier store, and i go to look at this LP again thinking "' it couldnt have been as bad as I thought, its a "GIBSON" '" Well it was just as bad and the price on it had gone from $2850.00 to $3675.00. same guitar, same imperfections, nice new price. Needless to say i never bought anything from them and i went across town and started buying hamers. havent stopped yet welcome to the family -
hey thanks for the info on schaller lp. this thing is pretty cool. Its more than likely gonna end up on at least one of my hamers to try it out. plus they have a great look.......a lot cleaner look and they seem to more thought out as far as the design. The stetsbar just looks clunky and thrown together. Schaller looks like t belongs there, and its a total retro fit. NIIIICCE, thanks again, Landon

This might be something you would want to look into. Ive never had any experience in using one, nor am I familiar with the quality of the trem, but it is a NON-INVASIVE trem add on that mounts to stop tail, hard tail etc. stock bridge systems. You can kind of see that in the picture, in front is the tune-o-matic bridge. check em' out. I think their website is just stetsbar.com or you should be able to google stetsbar tremolo and it'll come up. Good luck
