  1. I liked Maroon 5 better when they were called Kara's Flowers. http://youtu.be/DefUa6gd5Qg Sorry for the hijack.
  2. I always wanted a Jazz 5 and now I really want one. Nice tone and playing man.
  3. What is the significance of the lower case h doodad? I saw it in Murkat's shop post and now there it is again...
  4. Oh My GOD! Your mind is like a steel trap... that is some scary f**kin' recall. You will always be a 19 year old no matter how old you get Gene. I would really love to share the stage with you sometime, hopefully I'll get to Fla before we both turn to stone.
  5. The mix this guy has is sort of weird, it is just the stuff in the L and R channels and none of the summed material (-L + -R) Still good even though the mono material isn't present though.
  6. The best beat and most kick ass song INXS did was "The One Thing". Break that sucka out and school those folks on good Aussie New Wave.
  7. I don't expect a 12 year old to have much of a feel for what the kids in High School and college are listening to. Don't forget that I am a professional DJ, I do over a hundred of gigs a year.
  8. Electric guitar oriented bands that have a danceable beat? Hmmm... and they have to be popular too? Hmmm... Well, I can give you a few suggestions. Hellogoodbye Shiny Toy Guns Foster The People The Black Keys Not much there really that is universally popular and guitar oriented, Zorrow already mentioned Maroon 5. I would compose a mix that contained good dance songs and not worry too much about it having guitar in it. I will give you a mix right here, not in any specific order: 1). Bangarang - Skrillex 2). Me and You - Nero 3). What You Know - Two Door Cinema Club 4). Holiday - Vampire Weekend 5). Strict Machine - Goldfrapp 6). Lights - Eli Goulding (Bassnectar Remix) 6). As The Rush Comes - Motorcycle 7). The Nth degree - OVERWERK 8). In Your Arms - Hellogoodbye 9). Call It What You Want - Foster The People 10). Finally Moving - Pretty Lights 11). You Wish - Nightmares On Wax - This and the Pretty LIghts song use the same phat jazz guitar sample so it will provide a little continuity to your mix if you place one in the beginning and one at the end. 12). Promises - Nero (Skrillex Remix) 13). Feel It All Around - The Washed Out 14). Le Disko - Shiny Toy Guns 15). Buzzin' - OVERWERK 16). Jaan Pehechaan Ho - Muhammad Rafi 17). Sleepyhead - Passion Pit That should give you a little over an hour of music. Maybe Some Florence and the Machine? A lot of the Black Keys have good beats, a lot are pretty slow, but they really groove.
  9. The three Journey albums before Perry suck. I'll take "Keep Forgettin'" over China Grove any day. Michael McDonald rules.
  10. Hmmm... if they had the same pickups, I would like the comparison better. I think we were listening to the better pickup in the Diablo and the worst pickup in the Jem. The fact that the exact model of the JEM was not disclosed means that it could be PAF Pro, Evolution or Breed. If the Diablo had a Tone Zone and the JEM any of those pickups above... we are simply liking the TZ's heavier mids and higher gain.
  11. No Way Out, Jane and Find Your Way Back are my favorite Jefferson Starship songs. I guess Miracles was a big make out song around the time I was born. It was always a very musical song to me with cool chords and interesting vocal turnarounds. I actually really dig Balin's "Hearts" that he did in the 80's I think I am the only person I know that air guitars whenever Jane comes on the radio Jane is the perfect rock pop song IMHO. Craig rocking' that Rich Bitch through Carvin stacks is still in my memory banks. That's some rock and roll there. Great review and it's great to know that Mickey can still sing even though Donnie fucked his face up severely one night after a show in the 90s. Just a couple of Irish blokes having fun after a gig right? Singers... don't ever pick a fight with your drummer.
  12. Turn that frown upside down! Did you notice the Chesire Cat? Sadly it got covered up with the pickups. I just see Fat Albert.
  13. VOX made something like this 20 years ago, I used it in my effects loop when I had my marshall and it was like an exciter that added extra even order harmonics, I loved it. I Let a friend borrow it and never got it back.
  14. You have maximum capacitance Tobemeister
  15. In technical terms, it's referred to as buffering. It's how our telephone lines retain capacitance over miles and miles of cable. Each telephone pole has a small amplifier that boosts the signal level back up to it's original level back from it's reduced capacitance from the long cable run. ISP decimators have "line buffers" worked into their circuits... a small boost at the end of the chain is all you need. Check out the Pedals/FX that you currently own, many of them have buffers worked into their circuitry, you might be surprised to know that your rig is already buffered.
  16. The first "heavy metal" album that I ever bought. I would get home from school before anyone else would come home in the 5th grade and put on the Metal Health album and air guitar hard for 10 minutes. When Carlos would hit the solo, I would get chills. I used to want to play drums but Quiet Riot made me want to play guitar. Epic shit and intensely well played.
  17. Yup, VHII is my fav... right next to 1984. The funk/punk on steroids drums on Outta Love Again groove hard, I mean real hard.
  18. Pithecanthropus Erectus - one of my desert island albums... I can listen to it over and over
  19. Mind altered states facilitate creativity for many humans, it's a well documented fact. Shamans use drugs for visionquests and healing. Brain waves must be at a certain place for creativity to take place... some artists have bizarre chemistry and can achieve those brain waves much easier through a drug induced altered state. It's just how it is.
  20. Sounds really nice. Pretty slick sounding with good lead playing and vocals. Perhaps most notably, it has a great bridge followed by a tasteful harmony lead break down. Me Like.
  21. I know right? Now Jan is sad too. That pony lives in a parallel dimension... I think that it's 2D so no, nobody can ride him/her, it's a flat world. Can I ride Jan? Eve Plumb sure is one fairly hot GMILF today. I've always thought that Jan had the potential to be a "Girl Gone Bad"
