  1. I went and saw this guitar. It's very nice. The color is faded for sure. It appears all original, and no it doesn't say USA under the logo (but the serial number is where it should be). The neck has some of the nicest birdseye I've ever seen and the ebony fretboard is SLICK! The body is a great hunk of wavy maple, but its thin and has really rounded edges like Carvins (I didn't care for that).
  2. Wasn't Ed Bloman the sausage king of Chicago?
  3. I'm guessing you have an original Vetta and not the Vetta II. I say that because the Vetta II's seem to sell quickly, but the Vetta I's don't have the appeal (maybe due to the "Judge Dread" handle on top). Or maybe because of the Vetta III rumor. Who knows? Anyway, I'd do the trade only if the Carvin is in great shape. Buyers nowadays are awfully gunshy of even the smallest signs of wear.
  4. Iron Maiden. Even the crap with "other" singer dude. & Queensryche. Even the crap with the "other" guitar player dude.
  5. That's is a form of marketing. A very good way to advertise his skills. I think it's a her.
  6. That IS cool. I might have throw a bid at that one....
  7. The XT's are made in China, not Korea. But they appear just as nice.
  8. I've been there. Had to replace the base plate. What a pain! The good news is that any Schaller plate will work, or do like I did and toss the whole thing and get an Original Floyd.
  9. One of the guys I play with has a Tele shaped Suhr. He paid BIG bucks to have it built "just so". I am very impressed with the fit 'n finish and the sound is unreal. The pickups and push-button mid-boost circuit (iirc) make that thing cut through the mix like nobody's business!
  10. Sorry for your loss, Frank.
  11. Classic!
  12. Well, the Packers were better in "the old days".
  13. Good lord! You just described MY guitar/money/wife situation TO THE LETTER! (Must be a Wisconsin thing.)
  14. Damn! I missed the show. Sounds like a display I would have enjoyed.
  15. Wow! That's the first Standard to float my boat in a LONG time!
  16. I'm a huge Korina fan. See my Superglide thread. My Korina guitar has a maple cap (best of both worlds, I guess). I own and have owned several maple-capped mahogany guitars, and I swear there is a major tone difference. The Korina has a very complex upper midrange tone. The first time I plugged in, I had to check if my chorus pedal was on. It wasn't. It was just a beautiful sound. I play mostly high-gain stuff and yes, Korina works well. YMMV
  17. Built by Russell Lee Davis. In fact, he put the Superglide's picture on his home page. How cool is that!? Russell Lee Davis Guitars
  18. I've really grown to LOVE the 25" scale length. (Maybe PRS knew what they were doing.) It's also got a FAT neck, which I've also grown to love. But mostly, I am a certified fan of Korina now. I'm not sure how to explain it, but the mids are so complex that it almost sounds like I'm running some slight chorus. Very cool! Some more pics:
  19. My Korina Superglide is a year old this week. So, here's some birthday pics:
  20. In my (limited) experience, solid state amps get lost too easy. What I mean is, when I had solid state modelers, I could dial in great tones at home, but as soon as I lined up next to another guitar player, my sound was lost in the mix. Now, with tubey amps, I can dial in similar great tones at home, and they still shine when playing in the band. Also, the louder a tube amp gets, the better it sounds. Vice versa for solid state. YMMV
