  1. That's a beauty! Welcome aboard! I really don't think the Axtec Gold will darken, but I could be wrong. The pickups that were in my Elite were the same as yours. Custom and Custom Custom. Special orders might be different. The fit and finish you're raving about is standard on all Hamers from what I've seen. The Elite is a great guitar. Enjoy it!
  2. That top has character!
  3. I never got on the Greenback bandwagon. I LOVE V30's! It would be hard to imagine an amp that wouldn't benefit from having them tossing out the noise! Although, I dig G12t-75's for all-out metal. And Eminence Big Ben's for ANY 15" application. And those new Neo's look nice.........
  4. The Carvin stuff sounds good on paper, but in reality it sounds pretty dull. I say nay. I've had excellent luck with Mackie mixers/amps and Club series Yamaha Speakers. (The Club V series has the nice Speakon connectors.) Very honest sound reproduction without breaking the bank.
  5. The white '81 was a great player. I remember it fondly.
  6. Stike ROOLZ!!!
  7. Someone mentioned ESP, Vernon Reid, and Dayglo. Let's put 'em all together and see what we get...
  8. I spent 15+ years in a band that was "in it for the money". We gigged every weekend, so I know where you're coming from, and I think I have the solution (at least it worked for me). 1. Get a job that pays enough that music can be for enjoyment. 2. Find a group of guys that think like you. 3. Form a band for fun. 4. Rarely gig so each show is special. 5. Spend more time with the family!
  9. LOL! Ever get any neo-hippie jam band fans to show up to your gigs because of your name, only to hit 'em with "Our Lips Are Sealed"? LOL
  10. MOE the Fish (my cover band) appearing at Mickey Finn's Brewery in Libertyville Illinois Friday, January 13th
  11. OK, so I finally got my copy of OWTTHAB, and here is my review: It's nice to hear some new material from The Sweet.
  12. Damn, I'm outta the loop. During my commute to work this morning, I was pondering when the new Darkness album would come out. Gonna have to order up a copy today!
  13. JJ's for the little guys, SED Winged C's for the big tubes.
  14. Prayers coming your way.
  15. Saw the show. Loved it. I'm hooked already! It's American Idol for us 30+ year olds.
  16. The builder doesn't have a website. It's a 2-guy tiny operation (Russ and Tony). They email you pics of every step in the building process for your approval. You really have a say in every detail! I printed out every pic and now I have a complete record of the creation of the Superglide - and it's a big book! If you have an idea for an off-the-wall creation, and noone else will build it, try these guys. The used to go by the name "Performaxe Guitars", but I think they are just calling themselves "Russell Lee Davis Guitars" nowadays. Tony: Stratocaster102@aol.com Russ: Performaxeguitar@aol.com Oh, and for those that don't understand the name "Superglide", just take a look at the original Hamer Electraglide. (But PHANTAWATSOMONAVECTARD was my second choice )
  17. Here's a full shot of the front... ...and back. The pickups are: SD JB, Lil '59, Cool Rails. The 5-way rotary selects like a strat 5-way. Master volume and master tone - both pull up to split the coils. Built by Russell Lee Davis out of Florida.
  18. Here it is. It's 25" scale length with a FAT neck and a long tenon set neck. It pays homage to a few famous Hamers, don'tcha think? The 5-way rotory idea w/ a chicken head knob was taken from the Monaco 3. The hockeystick headstock will always be my favorite. Macassar ebony neck wrapped in flame maple binding with abalone inlays that match the tailpiece. A belly cut and a subtle neck heel contour make for comfy playing. Check out the figured Korina and the cherry wood stripes in the neck!
  19. OMG, Mobbie! I love your collection more than anybody's here! You dog! Say, does that purple monster have a name? It would be nice to refer to it as "The ____ Model", or "The Custom _____", or simply "The _____". I hope somebody creative can fill in the blank....
  20. The one thing that elevates PRS in my eyes is the scale length. I LOVE the 25" scale! Yes, I can feel the difference, and I "think" I can hear it. Anyway, my custom build (which isn't near completion yet) will have a 25" scale. While I don't own one, I have to tip my hat to Carvin for the same reason.
