  1. Oh, thanks for reminding me of that one.
  2. He sort of looks like an Elvis impersonator in that pic. You can almost see the sideburns in the shadows. An ANGRY Elvis impersonator.
  3. Wow, he really looks like a heroin addict.
  4. Bill, I'm really sorry for you bud. Hang in there, she's in a better place.
  5. Salem, I'm pretty sure you posted this thread before, or one virtually identical, or maybe it's just that all your threads that aren't about tweed amps read the same.
  6. Blasphemy! Get ye gone, Satan! ep, Neil consistently gets primo tone...EXCEPT for the soundtrack to Rust Never Sleeps. The intro to 'Hey Hey My My' sounds like he overloaded his amp with an Electro Harmonix LPB-1.
  7. Not really familiar with the wiring options of the split coils, but can you, say, wire the 'top' coil of the bridge in series with the 'bottom' coil of the neck? That might make a good middle pickup sound.
  8. And we also have, evidently, a bunch of people, like you, who are appalled by it, and have EVERY RIGHT TO AVOID CLICKING ON IT. But you just can't resist reading it. If there's something you find objectionable on the forum, skip it! Clearly however, a bunch of folks just can't.
  9. Why? I am looking at the results of your poll and the overwhelming majority is saying NO. Doing what you suggest would be ignoring the data you got from this poll.
  10. Problem is (and believe me I know this because it's rampant on other boards I frequent), no one agrees on what constitutes a personal attack. And what it invariably comes down to is: it's a personal attack if we like the guy who gets criticized, but if we don't like him 'he had it coming.'
  11. Looks like the Nos are winning, convincingly, so take that you censorship-loving board nazis!!!!!!!!!
  12. The thread in question might be hostile and in-your-face but it contains an important issue that should be addressed, one way or another. Sometimes life ain't pretty.
  13. Problem is, no one agrees what a 'normal' P-90 sounds like . A lot of folks on this board told me how Phat Cats sound like the real deal, when they are actually twangmasters. If you think P-90s are supposed to sound like Tele pups, you certainly have your choice of twangy pups to choose from. So I will qualify my response by saying - not one noiseless P-90 I have heard sounds like 'Mississippi Queen' or 'Rockin in the Free World.'
  14. Anyone have numbers on this? Because it seems to me that Hamer and Gibson appeal to different market niches. Or that Hamer has a niche, while Gibson has a market.
  15. We don't do ANYTHING 100% as recorded but I stay to the spirit of the grooves as much as possible. I Know a Little is a cool set of licks so I try to do that one pretty close to the original. Allmans do some timing stuff like in 'Love is Everywhere' and weird scales and timing in 'Elizabeth Reed.' We do 'One Way Out' with a totally different groove.
  16. What, they get bonus points for effort? I'd never rate a retarded, one-dimensional band as #1. And while we're discussing self-destructive Southern Rock bands, I'm surprised no one mentioned the Allman Brothers. Gawd, those guys were/are good. one dimensional maybe but the problem I run into is that IMO Ed King and Steve Gaines ( w/ the exception of Trucks and Herring ) are just better and more creative players than the guys from the Allmans, I know, let a shit storm insue, but Ed King is a god on lead guitar, period, and Gaines was too. I've played all this stuff and the problem is those retards made it sound easy, and it ain't, the Skynrd stuff is MUY hard to do right, the Allmans stuff is not , all my opinion. Having said this, it's still ZZ Top I always had more trouble with Allman's arrangements than LS's but maybe that's just me.
  17. Yeah, this is probably the correct answer.
  18. For 'American-ness,' for record sales, I don't see how you top Bruce. Of course, if you say success = record sales, then Michael Jackson is your winna.
  19. Keep an eye on Ebay. Artists go for sale there monthly.
  20. Drop a cat into a chipper shredder.
  21. no kidding, I know this guitar has pissed off several people who were begging for those ( or some of ) specs not a year ago Joe's thread at the Hamer Museum goes over some of that. Do you realize you just quoted Joe, of all people? Anyway, his thread doesn't cover the issue of dealer exclusives at all. He's just talking volume. The word from Hamer was, no more dealer exclusives period.
  22. Yep, this is a little too Trekkie for me.
  23. You're upset because the vast majority said no? Be careful what you ask - you might get an answer!
