Do a lot of retailers not bother to check their email or reply to email anymore? In the past month I've run into this twice. Odd. Maybe they are just doing so great that there is no need for them to make the slightest attempt at effort. 🙃 But the guitars I was asking about are still there. And it's not like I have a pressing need for more guitars, so when they can't be bothered, I can't be bothered to pursue it further.

Yeah. Sometimes I wondered if that was me, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't. That's one of many reasons though that I avoided the band thing for 20 years now. Back to that EV saga at the top of this page, B&H had EV send me one directly, it got here intact, they were really good about it. Finally got around to putting it in an Orange PPC112 a few weeks ago, got a Quilter Overdrive 200 to go with it. Very impressive. I no longer need to lament over that Rivera. Getting a tc reverb pedal for it this week too. Kinda wish I lived in a more remote setting than a damn condo so I could have at it for a much longer period of time, but it's all what I hoped it would be. For a change.

I got a new EVM 12L delivered tonight. Picked up the box and it was moving around. Crap. Opened it, the cheesy styro piece inside had fallen apart, little bits of busted styro all over the speaker, and creases in the cone. Filled out a return/exchange request. I hope the next one doesn't arrive the same way, but seeing how that was factory packaged, I'm not hopeful. I hope the MBA who thought it was a good idea to save half a cent and use such poor packaging for such an awkward, heavy speaker drives the BMW he got with his bonus money into an abutment. Years ago I had a Rivera M100 112 with one of the original EVM's in it. That's one of the few amps I wish I had kept. If I ever get an operable speaker I hope to get something close to that unique sound. I guess they're not made in the US anymore, so I'm not even sure on that front. Rather aggravating.

This is great. And not just because it's another guitar brand that we need a pronunciation guide for. Sent along my info, though it seems likely I'm way too late for one of the twelve, but it's cool that they went so quickly. May you have a future that has you bitching about how you spend too much time on stupid shit like HR costs, materials planning and procurement, long waiting lists, not enough getting to build guitars yourself because of all that stuff and more, and you look back fondly on these days. Cheers.

Some stellar stories here. Only one* I ever broke was at a routine rehearsal, was fucking about with a multi-effect unit and not getting the desired result, and took off my Ibanez RG560 and pitched it across the room headstock-first. Initially, there didsn't seem to be any ill effect. About 2 bars into the next song after my childish episode, I could hear a bit of a tuning issue (it was a loud band). Took it to the store where I bought it, told them to fix it, whatever, call me when it's ready. Couple weeks later got it back, along with a bill almost as much as the guitar cost originally. A few years later I looked at it and saw 'USA Custom' under the Ibanez logo. No idea where they scored that. Knowing them, it could have been off another customers guitar, or maybe they did really get one 'new'. Either way, it forced me into going out and finding another guitar at the time, which wasn't all bad. * - There was this one time, with my high school band, and we were playing a really big party. I scored a Memphis LP copy for $40 for the sole purpose of smashing it to pieces during a song, cause man, I always wanted to do that. Heh. It went over pretty well. Now those things are supposedly somewhat collectible? Wtf?
