Middle pickup out of phase in Hamer TLE
Tortious replied to guitaround's question in Ask the HFC Experts
No TLE diagram in the warehouse: https://www.hamerfanclub.com/hamer-guitar-wiring-schematics/ If someone has one, it needs to be added to that. -
Concur. I found one place he said it sort of publicly, in an MIT article about him from 2024. https://www.technologyreview.com/2024/08/27/1095835/not-just-another-band-from-boston/ He could easily get someone from anywhere to do that. Or learn how to do it himself. He learned how to do a lot of other things like that, and clearly has the brains and ability. I understand his studio is quite cramped and it may be a huge pita to get equipment out and sent off, but he could get someone from anywhere that's capable of it, fly them in, put them in a hotel for a few days, and let them fix it. So, given the history of 'stories' with this crew, there may be some or no truth to it. Even in that article, there are numerous other claims about the history of the band and making the first record that are suspect at best. Some of their prodigious legal excursions can be read here: https://www.thirdstage.ca/boston/articles/legal-documents Still sucks about Tommy D though. He seemed pretty cool. Hell of a ride to go from Home Depot to fronting Boston.

Wow, that's unpleasant. They hadn't toured since 2017. I know Tommy had his own thing going too, and it sometimes referred to him as 'former' lead singer of Boston, but could never find out if that was intentional. Tom claimed a couple years ago that his analog recorder had broken and he couldn't find anyone to fix it. Still refused to go digital. Never was able to find out if any of that was true or not. That entire operation has pushed 'stories' since the very beginning, and appears to have spent far more time in courtrooms than it ever did on stage.

HFC Performance Issue - The details if interested.

It started slowing down for me about 15 minutes ago. Here is what I mean about bots. 29 pages of them, 866 'users', mostly looking at a single 2016 thread about Studios. https://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/76368-blue-ebony-studios/ -

I have noticed if you look at 'Online Users', there are often pages and pages of 'Guest' (bots, obviously) all looking at mostly the same thread. Does this site get a constant bot swarm doing shit like that to slow it down and chew bandwidth? -
Well done, Jeff R https://www.premierguitar.com/news/carondelet-introduces-otb-ultimates-pickups Carondelet Pickups has introduced their newest vintage-style humbuckers: the company’s OTB Ultimates provide a sound and feel that are stunningly close to great examples of original 1957-61 Gibson “Patent Applied For”-sticker humbuckers. Louisiana-based Carondelet -- pronounced “kuh-RON-da-let” -- teamed up with artist Owen Barry in developing the OTB with the specific goal of “cracking the code” of vintage Gibson PAF humbuckers, but at a fraction of the cost of actual vintage PAFs....

Shipping in that case with no additional interior stabilizing will smash it to pieces. -
eMpTV Is Dead. As In Really, Really Dead

I really doubt the accuracy of that article. There's nothing in it about actual 'bankruptcy' or anything remotely like that. Just conjecture. In reality, John McLaren (ex of Yamaha and Fender) started BBE (which G&L became part of) and it was his until the end, except for turning it over operationally to his 2 sons. He died a year ago. Makes me think the kids were just waiting for that so they could fuck off with whatever inheritance they had. No idea if that's true, but more realistic than what the article implied. There was no evidence of sales being drastically different than they had been for a long time. Still sucks about Leo's office.

Cool Guitar Alert - Heritage Ascent+ H-137
Tortious replied to santellavision's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
All owned by the same conglomerate. At https://ascent.heritageguitars.com/ you'll find: Vista Musical Instruments LLC 225 Parsons St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007 A division of Caldecott Music Group At 'Manny's': https://mannys.com/ Manny's is part of Vista Musical Instruments, home of the world's most admired music brands. Here: https://guitar.com/reviews/electric-guitar/the-big-review-heritage-ascent-plus-h-150/ Editor’s note: Heritage Guitars and Guitar.com are both part of the Caldecott Music Group. And finally: https://bandlabtechnologies.com/brands/bandlab/ BANDLAB TECHNOLOGIES A PART OF CALDECOTT MUSIC GROUP So it's all really one company, with a bunch of names/brands. They are doing good making it appear to be pollinating across the internets. But the guitars look cool. Of course, I like Tyler and original Dean headstocks. 👽 -
From the article stratacus linked on Monday: There’s also no word on what’s happened to prototypes, templates, or the surviving contents of Leo Fender’s lab – though recent photos show what appears to be Leo’s original filing cabinet discarded in a dumpster behind the G&L facility, alongside other pieces of his old office furniture. If FMIC was buying what they did just for the Leo connection, they could have recreated that, too.
