In Irsay's case, I don't think he cared about that. From what I can tell, he wanted to know what those guitars were really like, and he had the money to find out. Given some of his other 'habits', it's also a possibility that estate planning wasn't near the top on his list of things to be concerned about. I don't know that, but it wouldn't be the first time something similar has happened, even to the very well off. We'll probably never know, but what is obvious is that the collection is the property of his survivors to do what they wish/need to with, and this was what they decided to do. I am reasonably confident that there won't be much in the way of great deals at this auction. Maybe a pedalboard will slip through cheap. đ€Ș Unlikely.

That's very tempting. I've never played one either, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone say anything bad about them. Do you know what the radius is?

Random (Music and Guitar Related) Thoughts Thread

Cannot imagine why this headstock shape never got copied. 𫣠It can be all yours for only $2k!!! https://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/products/martin-em-18-natural-1980-2370968 -
Does not sound promising. I have a couple of Legacys, to me they do Fender better than Fender. They used to have Hamer-esque resale value too. Those days have passed, and if this is true, they will probably increase significantly over the next decade. Someone can buy up the name, but unless they buy the going operation, it won't be the same.

As far as I can tell, when threads get 'archived', they no longer show up in the search from here. One way around that is to use google advanced search. So if you put: bogner site:https://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums in the google search, it gives you a list, even the archived ones.

PRS 594 in Faded Blue Jean now in Central Florida!
Tortious replied to The Shark's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Yeah, and the singlecut version is even further into LP territory. Tone knobs are push-pulls so you get all manner of options for switching. Then there's an S2 'thinline' that's quite SG-ish, while not looking like it. The 24.594 is supposedly the 'true' scale length of early LP's. Gibson had some interesting methods of measurement that apparently ignored industry standards. Allegedly. No idea if true. But it certainly works on these. -
These guys are making Hamer Special Tributes.

The knobs are very far apart. And one is missing. It seemed like they were consciously avoiding showing the headstock. Might be a decent guitar, but the presentation has me underwhelmed. -
"New York Cityâs Met Museum is contesting claims made by former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor that he owns the âKeithburstâ Les Paul" ... "Met officials contest Taylor's claims that he owned the guitar in their collection, and say the instrument was not among those stolen from NellcĂŽte. The museum states that a man named Adrian Miller became the guitarâs owner in 1971, but doesnât explain how he came to take ownership of it. Itâs believed that Miller ultimately sold the guitar to Heavy Metal Kids founder Cosmo Verrico, who, as per an interview with the New York Times, âcanât recall how Miller acquired the guitar.â" Well that should settle it! đ€Ș

Why is he still saying that? It's very clearly not. And how did you win a bet if they are insisting something that isn't true?

Yes, but didn't he sell his share/leave the company around 1987?

Bummer. Here's a couple of old threads mentioning that no tone control was apparently part of it, stereo y-cable needed etc. jettster said he had a diagram but could not locate it. https://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/73840-activating-the-fishman-transducer-on-a-t51f/ https://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/43301-t-51-vs-t-51f/ Good luck.

Dirk Ziff. Same dude that had Ed King's stolen '59. Gotta wonder about the history of some of the others in that collection. I'm sure they took a long time and went through several hands before they got to him, but he has/had one of the biggest collections of original '59s, and I doubt he had no clue about the history of some of them, or knowledge about known ones like this that 'disappeared'.

It has increased, some. Used to be able to score them under $500. These are at the GC closest to me. I already have a blue 2-tek 4 with Bartolini's. This appears to have an incorrect case that the bass will slide around in, but a case. $850 https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Hamer/Used-Hamer-cruise-bass-4-Blue-Electric-Bass-Guitar.gc The other is a 5-string. Hmmm. No mention of case. $900 Tempting. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Hamer/Used-Hamer-cruise-bass-5-Cherry-Sunburst-Electric-Bass-Guitar.gc

Since you're going by there... if you think of it, take a look at this if you have a minute. The front and back shots make it look nice, the one that shows the top and side make it look kinda grimy. https://www.bananas.com/collections/pre-owned/products/rivera-clubster-royale-50w-1x12-combo-guitar-tube-amp-pre-owned I kinda want it. Really don't need it. Don't know how long it's been there, but I've been looking at it for a couple months at least. It's supposed to have a footswitch too, but they don't mention it.

#MeToo. Had no idea this existed. I have their EchoRec, really cool pedal. Pieman, if I'm reading correctly, I don't think it's an actual echo function, but an emulator of tape echo preamps. Which is still a cool feature. They also need to check their copy. "know that this companyâs tape echo and tape echo preamp circuits are among the business." đ§ It's on the list of 'will likely get at some point' for me.
