Moose listed his Newport Pro (no Bigsby) for $969 shipped and PPd, which I thought was a ridiculously low price. Offline I was informed that was an "average" price, but I'm not buying it. For that to be the case, as many NPs would have to come up for sale for $800 as $1050, and I've personally never noticed that to be the case. Any time you're getting into a USA-made hollowbody for under a grand, you're doing extremely well. Of course, market value and the "cheap fuck" nature of us HFC types dictate that Hamer versions often can be had for less.

Oh, I think Kiss is in on the joke. As you said, the $$$ make it okay. If they're not, Gene and the boys aren't merely assholes. They're sociopaths. What I personally am getting at is that you, Whitcomb and Bubba's daughter have all implied or straight-up claimed that Kiss always was a joke. I say that's not true, and I point to the Winterland show as one example (their first 4 1/2 studio albums and live album would be 5 1/2 other examples IMO). When something becomes a joke, it's difficult to revert back to a view of it as otherwise. Tiger Woods would be a non-music example.

Agreed! I still defy anyone to watch the Winterland performance on Kissology Vol. 1 and point out what's a joke about that.

I wouldn't say Paul lacks talent. He's 60. His voice is shot. And we should all be so lucky to "eek out a living" as they have. All that said, they were hardly a joke up to "Alive," possibly into "Destroyer." Then they recognized the lucrative marketing opportunities.

Honestly, get Revenge. No Ace, Peter or that original chemistry, but easily one of their best efforts IMO.
