  1. Agreed! Can't wait for mine to show up... Patience, Grasshopper ....
  2. A used MXR Carbon Copy is your best bet there.
  3. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  4. Not everyone can have Flawless Techniqueâ„¢. And more people will remember John Mayer than Steve Stevens.
  5. Neither his accountant nor his cock share those same wishes.
  6. My theory is that guitar nerds are offended by the fact that Mayer came on the scene with a pandering brand of acoustic soothsaying, and parlayed that into their collective wet dream: playing Jimi covers through Two Rocks and Dumbles for large, enthusiastic audiences (the majority of which are chicks) with the likes of Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino. Said nerds, of course, would have done the exact same thing if they had anything resembling Mayer's talent and business savvy. And then, of course, there are the women he's banged. Exceptional quality, despite what the "sharp knees" contingent will tell you.
  7. Meh. Everyone knows pentatonic wankery pales in comparison to schooled modal noodling.
  8. A friend of mine is the controller for the city of Hammond, Indiana, which hires bands like Queensryche for its fairs and whatnot. They recently did a Styx, Foreigner and Cheap Trick trifecta (separate shows) at the local fairground venue. I also saw Gretchen Wilson there, one of the acts that played at the city's annual week-long summer festival. He cuts the checks and says bands of that stature make in the $50-$75K range. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. Q'ryche maybe on the lower end of that as they really only had the one hit single.
  9. He's on a quest to have at some point played in every '80s band. Next up: Kajagoogoo.
  10. This is not a tour. He's doing a series of dates in Chicago only AFAIK. If you appreciate musicianship and an adventurous spirit, you can't not be a Prince fan. If you're put off by provocative image and music that isn't RAWK, then he might not be for you.
  11. Double Door and Metro come immediately to mind.
  12. I'm sure the tix will be way out of my budget, but I'd love to get wind of some unannounced after-hours activity at a smaller venue.
  13. My takeaways: 1. Queensryche Cabaret = Kilroy Was Here 2. Tremendous restraint by Wilton and Rockenfield to not stomp the shit out of Tate.
  14. You'll be glad you did. It's a good one!
  15. Sensing a continuity error with those harps, which are Lyon & Healys. Everyone knows they should be using Baldwins.
  16. Must be why it's now private. Only the privileged can experience its shittiness.
  17. Mexican illegals?
  18. Politics, religion and Poe's ass.
  19. Another Perfect Day is my favorite too. The songs may not have been as "Motorhead" as the earlier albums, but I think most people would have to concede the guitar playing was probably the best they've ever had. YMMV. My mileage is definitely varying with that. Big Robbo fan here, and the guitar work is great, but not on par with his Lizzy stuff, and the live recordings from that era are awful. Fast Eddie was no slouch, and neither is Phil Campbell. Hell, even Wurzel was good.
  20. So let me get this straight: you LIKE the sound of a stock guitar (MIM, no less) so you're NOT going to upgrade it with a set of corksniffer pickups? Get out.
