  1. I just listened to 5 Cheap Trick albums in succession while driving from MN to IL: In Color, Heaven Tonight, Dream Police, Next Position Please and Rockford. Interesting transformation.
  2. I've been a huge Stan Ridgway fan since his late 80s solo albums, and I get to see him live a couple of times during the early 90s, after his Mosquito album. Very fun shows. During a recent road trip, I put on his "Snakebite: Blacktop Ballads & Fugitive Songs" cd, which came out in 2004 and which I hadn't listened to in a long, long time. I really liked this song, Talkin' Wall of Voodoo Blues, which chronicles his MTV rise to prominence and subsequent demise:
  3. Good stuff Marty. Looks like you all are still having lots of fun in the music room!
  4. I'll be passing through IL, visiting family in late October, into November. I'd be delighted to give the guitar a ride.
  5. Is the guitar going to make its way to Minneapolis soon? I've heard rumors there might be a party somewhere up here in a few weeks.
  6. I look at my closest full of Hamers, and I know that there are more upstairs. Then, I think of all the people that I've met because I like these guitars and the music that is made with them. Then, I realize that it's Monday, and a group of guys that I've met through this board will be showing up for more music tonight. Hamers make my world go 'round, it seems. I'll have to start opening up the Monday thing to all my local guys and gals. Anyone else?
  7. Here's a pic I took during the 2003 Hamer Factory Tour. I've got a few more I can upload as well.
  8. Wow, I'm a little late to this party. This is so cool, and I can't wait to see and play Bil's guitar during the MN stop on the tour. Thanks for this, Gene, and I'll try to keep my calendar open in mid-August.
  9. Yes, it's in the basement. I need to start a lost and found, I think. Ha.
  10. That's good to hear, Carl! You should come shop at my house. I may have something that catches your eye, although I don't have anything that's on your list at the moment.
  11. I've got a few photos: According to tradition, Ray started us of with a Chopin Martini Kit. Boas and Guitars. What more do you need? Let's get this party started. Bob, Tombo and Z. Finally, some boa action! Badger Dave, Bruce, George and Bruce. No party is complete without party girls! Carmie and Meg, with Dave in the background. And of course every party needs a poseur. Our latest retiree, Sir Dan. George rocks the 8-string. What's that thing that Dave's playing? Another great time at the 4-3-2-1 Club!!!
  12. Excellent! Well, the festivities have already started, but any time after 5:00 is OK. 5 is the social hour or two, and the music usually starts around 7 or 7:30.
  13. Chile Verde is stewing on the stove top, and it should be perfectly seasoned by Saturday. Wieners are in the house, all they need is a spiral cut. I'm waiting for the celebrities. Edited to add that George and Carmie will be here Friday afternoon. If anyone wants to hang out, let me know. We'll likely step out to eat somewhere, and then relax at home with a martini, unless we decide to scalp tickets for the Dave Chapelle show downtown.
  14. Wow Ted, so sorry to hear this. That's just awful. We'll get the word out.
  15. Excellent! I hope it works out. It'd be good to see you two here again.
  16. Shall I reserve your suite? Rooms are going fast folks!
  17. It's time. One more 2013 party at the 4-3-2-1 Club occurs on Saturday, November 16. We've got a special reason for celebrating, which will be revealed in due time. I'd love to have some celebrity guests at this party too. Any takers? Traditionally, the 4-3-2-1 Club definition of a celebrity guest is someone who travels to attend, and who has never been here before. However, due to the dearth of celebrities at recent parties, we'll redefine to include anyone that drives over 60 miles, regardless of whether they've been here before. ha! And you locals, you're all celebrities in my book, but you already know that, right? And remember, if you don't make this party, your next opportunity won't be until the traditional Frozen Jam, which typically happens in January. I hope to see you all soon!
  18. Mine is waiting at my local fedex shipping center, but I won't be home until Tuesday! I can't wait that long!
  19. I have a friend that might be interested. What's the weight on this one?
  20. Sorry you couldn't make it last night Joe! We missed your warm, sunny disposition and your ability to sing like a young Robert Plant! Luckily we had Alicia around for awhile to fill in on the Robert Plant duties. What a fun night! Thanks to everyone who showed up on a cold, blustery MN evening. The 4-3-2-1 Club was hoppin'!! As I've said many times before, hanging out with these people is one of the best things I do for myself. I didn't take many pictures yesterday, but there's a few on the 4-3-2-1 Club Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/4321Club Maybe someone else has a few they can post.
  21. I suppose it's a little early to put a spiral cut on the wieners, but I can start tidying up a bit. Can't wait to rock out!
  22. If I could somehow get an audience with Adrian Belew, I would most certainly try to talk him into recording some new pop songs with The Bears.
