You can invite three musicians to a dinner party..
kizanski replied to Cheap Chick's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I'm as much a Jimi Hendrix fan as the next guy, but I'd have to give having a meal with him serious thought. I mean, have you ever listened to any of his stoned out hippie ramblings? It's all, "Groovy, man," and "Far out," and all that shit. After a while, you're praying for him to take bite out of Mamma Cass' ham sandwich (there's a person you NEVER want to have over for dinner, by the way!). No, for me, it would have to be the anorexic, heavily makeup'd Robert Palmer Band from the '80s videos. They don't talk. They don't eat. Three perfect dinner guests. -
That pretty much sums it up. They're not the same spec and they don't compare. In fact I have yet to play a Gibson V that compares to any of the Hamer Korina Vectors that I have owned or played.

'Tiger Wood' For Sale

That's a damn good price for that guitar, folks. It's got its bumps and bruises, but it's also one of the most original '78 'bursts that you're going to find: original pickups, original finish, OHSC, bullseye tuners, original solder joints on the original DiMarzios. Totally unf**ked with. With all of its "wear," the top looks excellent and has barely a mark on it. That top is also finished in a sunburst that is marked "E" in the Hamer serial logs. I asked Serial himself what that meant when I saw it in the books and he told me that they typically marked the serial number with an E (for experimental) because they were probably trying different variations on the sunburst color itself. This one seems to have a lot of red on top of the dark edges, and as you can see from the photos, it's a stunning burst on top of a really nice flame top. The neck is on the large side, it sounds awesome and is a dream to play too, making this a guitar a real winner all around. If I had the dough, I'd be buying this guitar again (I've already bought it twice). Those in the market should jump at this one. Or, you could wait around for the next all original big neck '78 Sunburst to come up for sale... -
Custom Order Arrivals-The Best Gretsch Ever*
kizanski replied to elduave's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Great looking M3, Chris and Dave. God knows I had a love/hate relationship with mine, but I still miss it. I'm curious to hear what you think of it after some amplifier time with it. As for "The Best Gretsch Ever," well, we'll just have to see about that. -
Examples of Crappy Distorted Guitar Tone

I think everyone who's heard you play can agree that YOUR distorted tone sucks. -

Agreed! -
That's great news, Mark. He's a good kid with a great sense of humor. I'm glad he's safe at home where he belongs.

woah, post a jpeg please... No. Please don't.

*True*, but Poejo can *never* be removed. (Note the asterisk abuse).

Poejo and FOBSS guitars always command a premium during resale.

Blow it out your ass, Peso.

Folks, I think we have a winner!

BABABABABABA!!
-
A year already! Damn the years have been flying by lately! As for the pickups, they're regular ol' Duncan '59's. Tone IS in the fingers after all, eh, Serial?
-
Ahh. Shablotniks then? Poe doesn't leave the Shlabotnik's in the guitars that he sells. That would be foolish, since they are so hard to get.
-
No, you're not that old, but 100 guitars is probably a conservative figure. Add a zero and we might be close. You're kidding no one Matthis! The pickups in your Vector came out of the Vector that is now Jersey Drew's (the one with Victory inlays). The pickups don't have gold pole pieces because I changed them. Mystery solved.
-
LOL! 100 guitars in 25 years?! I think you left off a zero.
-
My Vector is 1.75". It's only a 1/4" difference, but it's a lot when you compare the two.
-
...and it isn't just a little bit thicker - it's A LOT thicker. I think it's a half inch thicker than the Gibson. It's LP Junior thickness, vs. "SG" thickness (which the Gibson V is). What makes the whole "korina is hard to come by" argument even more lob-sided is that Hamer's up charge for korina is very reasonable, when compared to Gibson’s entry level Korina Historic V's and Explorers. The prices that Gibson charges for these guitars is nothing short of obscene, but I guess they know what they're doing, becasue they sell every one of them. I've played a few Gibson Korina V's. Are they great guitars? Yes. Are they better than the Hamers? No - not the ones that I have played. I have criticized Hamer for many things, their up charges for the most part, but in the case of their Korina Standards and Vectors, these guitars are bargains at twice the price.
