  1. Joni Mitchell A third mention to make up for her late entry. Heart is a given. Sheryl Crow was mentioned, I'm sure. The Carpenters, absolutely. Veruca Salt/Nina Gordon's first record. Dead Sara, for the hard rock fan. Playing them on @songisking tomorrow. Billie Holiday. Rickie Lee Jones. The McGarrigles. Those where a few the wife likes. Carole King? I'll try and do more later...
  2. Would be super cool. And you know he'd play it on the show. My sister in law works for NBC at 30 Rock and could hand deliver it.
  3. Seriously. Roots guy needs the Purple Hamer.
  4. Should he sign the apology letter?
  5. If ever I wanted Kiz to be Kiz...
  6. Awesome. And by the way, get that Purple Hamer with the White EMG's to 30 Rock, stat, and be done with it.
  7. Congrats! Can you share how you hooked up with them, and compensation details (without numbers if you wish)? I often wonder if I'd be able to get published in a rock mag and how the hell you go about it...
  8. And incredibly patient! Cheers Andre (and Jack)!
  9. Great color, great guitar!
  10. Quit shitting on my for sale thread, Turdus. LOL! No, really. I get that. I actually think the ASAT bass shape is very cool, but it wouldn't work on me. Bet these are light, though.

  12. Funny, I met Joe on the same tour. He signed my album from the passenger seat window of their van. Kinda meh.
  13. Keep Your Friends Close, But Keep Your Rockstars At A Distanceby Song Is King on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:16pm ·Some people are built for the schmooze. Whether it's business, social, or some combination of the two, there are those that are good at it, and those that are not. I fall in the latter category. This can be a liability, especially when you're a rock fanboi. Imagine loving a band since childhood, and then getting the chance to meet them, and have it be a completely awkward experience. I used to hang out and try to get autographs. I did it for a long time. Looking back, it's kind of an embarrassment. I don't even have a real collection, for all the ones I got, 'cause they're spread all over the place. What follows is a little sampling of folks I've met, and how it went. Neil Diamond-It was pretty much like when Jack Black's character in Saving Silverman tried to meet him. I met Neil's keyboard player later in the day, who ironically said I look like Jack Black. The Black Crowes-I've been a hardcore fan since I heard them play Jealous Again on Howard Stern's show. Met them a couple of times, and had a really great, long exchange with Rich Robinson. I had a Jellyfish shirt on, and he told me the story of them playing his wedding. Meeting brother Chris was totally weird. I pretty much spilled out my heart in a sentence or two, soaked to the bone from a torrential downpour, to which he could barely muster a "cheers". Maybe it was the Hookah Brown shirt I had on. The Posies-Met Ken Stringfellow, had a super warm conversation with him. A lot of this was probably due to having my lovely wife with me. Ken was enjoying Black Russian's. The next show, I brought a Black Russian to his dressing room, and his girlfriend literally shouted me out of the dressing room. Met Jon Auer, told him I thought we were kindred spirits. You can probably guess how that went. Fastball-Tony Scalzo, who's songs I absolutely love, once kindly acknowledged a request I shouted out. Next time I saw him, I hollered out another one, to which he might have as well have said "you're a dick for yelling out a request." Miles Zuniga was totally cool. Def Leppard-Met them a couple of times. I remember shaking Joe Elliot's hand and thinking it was the softest, spongiest hand I ever shook. This seemed odd, seeing as all you ever heard about was their hard working, Sheffield factory lives that they escaped. Steve Clark seemed bothered and grumpy. Of course, Pete Willis was the coolest. He got shit-canned shortly there-after. The Smithereens-Was given the opportunity to attend a Pat Dinizio "living room" show. Somehow, my band mates at the time led the organizers to think that I was some kind of hardcore Smithereens fan (which I'm not). Of course, they made me sit right in front of Pat as he played. It was in a hotel suite, with a very plush white carpet. Pat proceeds to spill his red wine, blame me for it (not even in a laughing, joking around kind way), and somehow I end up at dude's feet, cleaning up his spill. Maybe more on this topic as I recall (I had grand designs on this story, really), but overall, I'm now happy to enjoy my rock stars, anonymously, from the crowd. Or through my personal speakers and ear buds.
  14. Nice to see the Creamsicle!
  15. Just a blurb to add, paraphrasing: ...We are choosing to suspend production of Hamer USA and Hamer XT products. That’s not to say that later on down the line we may re-launch the brand but right now we have no plans to do so.
  16. Opened for him Droge once.
  17. I didn't mean nothin' by that, BTW. You made the better investment.
  18. Electraglides were approved in the post Jol era.
  19. I like the current stuff OK, and have thought it would be a good fit for our store.
  20. It's sad that FMIC didn't at least give a final gasp and say something like "no more orders after Dec 31," to let dealers/buyers get in under the closing gate. +1 on giving a future deadline so dealers and potential buyers could maybe get them a few more orders. At least they could have waited until after Christmas when people could maybe better afford to do one last custom order. As much as I would have liked that to be the case, my guess is they didn't want to be inundated with orders for a brand they were putting to bed. Not to mention, the factory just, or is about to, shut down for the holidays,
  21. Bad form posting the topic to begin with. We've had a long standing rule saying don't shit on a for sale thread. This topic is in fact doing that (be it good natured or not), and should have been left at arms length, especially seeing as the seller had the foresight to avoid the forum entirely. Course, I ain't perfect, but that's my take. I think I've even been in bubs position before.
  22. Would you feel the same way if he made his livelihood that way?
  23. He's talking about a poll here. I remember it, but not the results per se.
  24. Concert For George playing in store in Ravi's honor.
