Terry told me he had to make the top super thin because the old pine? had "The sonic properties of cardboard." We both spent alot of time in the same parts of NH, so we got to talking about the old days and Terry told me about the Barn.

Anything that doesnt show the wood grain. also hate the black edge on Fenders. Frankly, the Fender tri-color is about the lamest paint job I have ever seen. No blend just bullseye. Ugh. But I hardly remember cuz I'm stupid in love with them.

silent, they have already said they would do it for me. make sure the body is 2 sold pieces or it will twist (as per Jol.) I can still find find Franks prices with solid flame maple wings if you are really going to do it. steve

I called Jol and Frank directly about the tour. As mentioned earlier, it was too many custom runs that the dealers wanted to spring for full effect without others copying them midstream. More interesting were the discussions and plans to have the whole get-together, jam etc at the same time and place and Jol and others might attend. Jol cited that his Porche fan club does it all the time without waiting for the company to schedule it. So.... Shouldnt we focus on: Getting together All the cool people we have met in past years. The royal treatment and interraction that NO other 30 year old guitar company provides. The fact that we had a large hand in focusing them on affordable "Private Stocks" by all our custom orders. I love Hamer and all the guys I have met. I am thrilled that they are returning to their rightful place in the guitar world. Do I take the recent lack of communication, and offering NEW dealers options they have refused me for years, a bit personally? Yes, until I remember that I'm the one who wished them success and am grateful for all the extra things they HAVE done. steve

I wouldn't own it if I didnt play it and like playing it. It also gets played by friends and guests who stop by. Frankly, it would be pointless to me if it didn't. The frills are just collectablility stuff. I don't think it is "snooty" if everyone gets to play it.

I find alot special about PRS and many of their models. I also find lots of similarities in the companies except for the size and to date, resale value. Funny part is when you talk to the execs at these companies like Jol and Paul, they are huge fans of each other and their work and see each other regularly at functions. As it was described to me last week, its not about "kicking the other guys ass in the industry, but rather building the absolute best guitars you can because you love the instrument." I have heard this from other builders as well. Both the spirit of the founders and the quality of their guitars remind me alot of one another. I have owned a bunch of both that I loved. Maybe Kiz, but I don't feel "Killed." Ditto Chris. I have a number of things they wont do yet. If anyone thinks it's all about money, it aint so so please quit repeating it. It just makes people feel that its a personal judgement if they get rejected. I had a 90 minute conversation about this with Jol yesterday. There are piles of specific reasons why they wont do certain things. Call the factory or Frank R if you want to know about an option or model. Some of the things arent even constuction, but rather certain woods they wont use. Some of the reasons are simple market place identity. The nice thing is that tomorrow could be different. I got the impression they are about to change their mind on one thing I have been asking for for years, so fuggit, I'm putting my order in to see what happens. I was also surprised to hear that there is no shortage of boomerangs whatsoever. steve

My thought are with you. I hung my head all yesterday during my wifes cancer operation. Have to wait a week to see if they got all of it this time.

Peter, I'm sure you're just testing us cuz I just got a quote incl. those inlays for my vector. doing a cali-style body like you'd expect. edited to add. after sw Jol, there are only 3 models they will put boomers on as of now.
